    NEW LIGHT right from the official web site of the JW`s. http://www.jw-media.org/beliefs/beliefsfaq.htm yes if you scroll down you will find this:

    Do you shun former members?
    Those who simply cease to be involved in the faith are not shunned. In compliance with the Scriptures, however, members can be expelled for serious unchristian conduct, such as stealing, drunkenness, or adultery, if they do not repent and cease such actions. Disfellowshipping does not sever family ties. Disfellowshipped members may continue to attend religious services, and if they wish, they may receive pastoral visits. They are always welcome to return to the faith.—1 Corinthians 5:11-13.

    Gee, they didn't mention that a person can be disfellowshipped for disagreeing with Watchtower dogma or criticizing the hypocracy found within the organization, which is apparently why Bob Bryant was DF'd.

    I'm sure they'll correct that oversight any day now.

    ..and I soppose that in a "Clintonian" sense, DFing does not sever family ties, because the DEAD are still members of the family, right?

    Flock Book, page 103, paragraph 2;

    "Disfellowshipped and disassociated ones are to be SHUNNED by those who wish to have a good relationship with Jehovah."

    Paragraph 4;

    "John counsels against speaking to or associating with a disfellowshipped or disassociated person so as not to be 'a sharer in his wicked works.' (2 John 11)"

    Gee, could someone be LYING?

    Rutherford was a lawyer and there is reportedly a large legal dept @ brooklyn. I think it's safe to presume that they scour all the printed stuff. . . ergo, the 'Clintonian' flair.

    Look what I found on the official Jehovah's Witnesses web site...

    http://www.jw-media.org/beliefs/beliefsfaq.htm

    Q: Do you shun former members?
    A: Those who simply cease to be involved in the faith are not shunned.

    I don't understand, why have I been treated the way I have been? Would this not apply to me? I'm not trying to make trouble... I'm just trying to understand.

    I sent this to my brother... I wonder how he will respond. I left the org in "good standing" but was immediately shunned.

    Messenger, you quote and state that "Disfellowshipped and disassociated ones are to be SHUNNED by those who wish to have a good relationship with Jehovah."
    OK, but you fail to see the difference between one who disassociates himself through either a letter or by word to two or more, where he states that he no longer wishes to be considered a Witness - and one who, to repeat the Watchtower quoting, "ceases to be involved".
    Formally disassociating oneself is a way of ending the "membership" so to speak, whereas one who ceases to be involved, just more or less slowly fades away, without ever making such a statement. He becomes irregular in the service and with respect to meeting attendance etc.
    OK?
