If you are not too busy Cedars, your MTS notes would be appreciated, a precis by yourself is all we need, but it is important when discussing this with JW's that we have their doctrine clear in our own mind in its latest form.
Just one little error from us and they will concentrate on that, not on the fact that the doctrine is demonstably false.
Do they still mention the Messenger coming to the Temple or whatever it was fom Micah as being in the mix? (What a "mix" it is too ! however you stir it, it is pure bull***t !)
THe simplest and correct answer is, its all bullshit.
That is the correct answer indeed.
I don't do this stuff anymore. It isn't worth my gray matter- so little to spare.
But I will say simply that Russell believed Jesus arrived in 1874 and that 1914 was "one generation" of 40 years later. He believed that the absolute end of this system would come in 1914. Later, to prove that their prophets who are not prophets were never wrong, fuzzy math was used to work backwards and prove that whatever dates they chose were "right."
Hi Phizzy
A cursory glance at my notes reveals that one scripture in Revelation and two in Daniel are said to refer to the same period of "42 months", or three and a half years from the latter part of 1914 (December, to be exact) through to 1918 (June, to be exact).
The scriptures are: Daniel 7:25, Daniel 12:7, Revelation 11:2,3.
The fact that they supposedly correspond with eachother is mentioned in the Questions From Readers article of w94 8/1 p34. See also the Revelation Climax book, p164.
Then in 1918 there is said to be a period of "three and a half days", spoken of in Revelation 11:9-11. This is supposedly the period stretching from 1918 to 1919, although for the life of me I cannot find any firm reasoning to explain how a three and a half day period could stretch from June 1918 to 1919.
Here is the only explanation (if you call it that) that I can find (from a footnote in the Climax book, p.168)...
Notice that in examining the experiences of God’s people at this time, it appears that while the 42 months represent a literal three and a half years, the three and a half days do not represent a literal period of 84 hours. Likely, the specific period of three and a half days is mentioned twice (in verses 9 and 11) to highlight that it would be only a short period compared with the actual three and a half years of activity that precede it.

As George Carlin used to say ... "holy shit!"
Further to the above, I've double-checked my notes. I have "9 months" scribbled down for the "three and a half day" period from 1918 to 1919, and I couldn't for the life of me figure out where this "9 month" period comes from in Revelation.
It turns out it isn't a scriptural period at all, but a period imposed by the Watch Tower Society based on the jail term served by Rutherford and his associates.
Hence, the "three and a half YEARS" (or 42 months) of Rev 11:2,3 run from December 21st 1914 to June 21st 1918 when the sentences were served on Rutherford and Co.
The "three and a half DAYS" of Rev 11:9-11 are actually nine months (go figure!) running from June 21st 1918 to March 26th 1918 when they were released.
If it all sounds crazy, that's because it is.

1919 is not tied into 1914 by a period of time but rather to being similar to the Israelites being released from Babylon.
The inspection of Christians by Jesus began in spring 1918 and ended in spring 1919 per the WTS.

That prophecy of restoration was first fulfilled when a Jewish remnant returned to Judah in 537 B.C.E. (2 Chronicles 36:22, 23) It was again fulfilled when the anointed remnant were delivered from “Babylon the Great” in 1919 by the Greater Cyrus, Jesus Christ. (Revelation 18:2; Isaiah 44:28) He is Jehovah’s “arm” for ruling, collecting together the sheep and shepherding them with tender care. Jesus himself stated: “I am the fine shepherd, and I know my sheep and my sheep know me.”—John 10:14.
How do we get to 1914 and then 1919?
Through an endeavored exploitation and manipulation of bible Scripture, something not quite surprising since the WTS.
has always been a religious publishing house.
The proclaiming assertion by the WTS's own orchestrated leaders that Jesus had chosen them in 1919 above all others
is another deviously concocted self supporting bit of propaganda again expressed to cultivate attention to the WTS. published works.
And of course the WTS leaders would want to dispel people who were in their organization that were questioning the WTS ruling
policies and doctrines, for they had the potential of parcariuosly breaking down the controlling sctuture that they had built up around
themselves.
The kingdom of the Watchtower Corporation was theirs to build and protect at any costs, as it still does to this day .
" How do we get to 1914 and then 1919 " ? The other posters are right when they say it's all bull$hit . That's the only way those dates are arrived at. That, and being mentally off to promote a mind control cult to prove their dishonest points and manipulate 7 million people world wide with fantasy numbers pulled out of their rear ends. That's how the WT society operates, " trust us " they say- while they rush to the bank with members inheritances, real estate donations, life insurance policies, while knifing them in the back with false promises. Pretty elementary. Con men have been masquerading as religions for thousands of years. Peace out, mr. Flipper
I call it an illusion. Checking the CD Revelation 11:3 (1,260 days, 42 months, 3 1/2 years) is not connected with 1919 directly. The WTS has a way of putting in a citation of a scripture near an assertion. Like "governing body" which has led many a jw to have the illusion that the phrase "governing body" is in the bible.
