When I was at travel school I planned a 10-day, action-filled trip to New Zealand for my final project. I would very, very much like to get there one day -- before I'm too old to do half the planned activities! LOL And then I'd shuffle on up to Australia and try to wangle entry into one of those famous Ozzie Apostate BBQs!
Oh, and I agree with ExPatBrit that cultural differences between States or Provinces, while they DO exist, pale in comparison to the cultural diversity and contrasts found in lil ol' Europe*!

*"lil ol' Europe" said in my most cheerfully condescending American touristy tone, of course! (Path? Storm?)

Expatbrit,
I think you're wrong about different states and provinces. When you're visiting Canada this year try hopping from St. John's Nfld, to Quebec City then try any large city in Ontario. I think you'll find the cultural and linguistic diversity to be as great as neighbouring countries in Europe. As far as our province of Newfoundland goes, they speak English but a lot of people can't understand a word they're saying.

Uh oh! The proverbial can o' worms!
Seaken: I agree with what you're saying. The differences between the Middle East and the West are far greater than between any countries in the West.
Blindfool and Sargon: I'm certainly not saying that there is never any differences between the states and provinces, just that I think the differences between European countries are greater.
I live in Canada and have visited the US several times. I'm afraid that if you want me to change my mind you'll just hafta prove me wrong by showing me a great time when I re-visit America!
As for people from Hamilton, ON....DON'T GET ME STARTED! That's where my brother-in-law lives.

outnfree,
Ha Ha! I hope you know I was just pokin' fun. Do you have a Joysey accent? I go shopping in Paramus and surrounding area all the time. Usually cut through North Jersey on my way home from visiting NYC. I have to say the "culture" is the pretty much the same from Philadelphia through NJ, NYC on up to Albany, with Orange County in between. Very urban and fast paced. Having been imported from Seattle and the PNW it took me awhile to adjust. Of course, last year when I was back home in Seattle it seemed to me that the once small town atmosphere I grew up in is mostly gone. Much more like NYC or L.A. now. I think maybe the biggest differnces are now seen between rural/country areas and urban/big city areas.

The Cow
There was this Norwegian farmer, Ole, from Wisconsin,
and he is going to Minnesota to buy a cow at a sale. Ole
gets to Minnesota and buys the nicest looking cow there,
takes it home.Getting ready to milk it, Ole grabs a hold of the teats,
pulls, and the cow farts. Ole thinks to himself, "Uffda,
oh what da heck," and he grabs a hold of the teats, pulls
once more and the cow farts again. At this point, in walks his Swedish neighbor, Sven. Eyeing
Ole's new cow, Sven asks could he try milking it as it sure
looks like a good milk cow. Ole replies with a ya, and Sven
grabs a hold, pulls on the cow's teats and the cow farts. Sven
looks at Ole and says, "Ya buy dis cow in Minnesota?OLE says,"Yah, I did, but I never told ya dat. How'd ya know I
bought DA cow in Minnesota?"Sven says, "My wife, Hilda, is from Minnesota."
