If Jehovah absconds himself from responsibility to correct pedophiles within his organization, and yet expects children to dedicate their souls irreversibly (even through death) to him at age 6, I think it's wiser to stick with Satan. At least Satan takes responsibility for the conditions that lead to pedophiles being there in the first place. And Satan doesn't threaten with destruction and busting up of families when someone tries to correct a problem.

Dark energy, for sure. Believe whatever rubbish the Filthful and Disgraceful Slavebugger puts out, or get destroyed in the near future and get your life ruined in the meantime. Besides, your soul stagnates and you rot spiritually while thinking you are in good spiritual health. Which creates the conditions for many of the problems you see within the congregation (including all forms of child abuse) to develop and sustain themselves in the first place.

What I believe is re-damdiculous is the stubborn attitude to continue using a know pediphile. I've been in e-meetings where elders can come up with every reason in the world to not appoint someone from the guy wears white socks to his bad breath. Oh, but if you sexually molested someone we have to waste an 1.5 hours talking about your "supposed" spiritual qualifications. What a freeking waste of manpower. Why don't they just say, it will be a cold day in hell before you will ever do anything other than vacuum and clean toilets?

The recent "Letters To The Christian Congregation Body of Elders" allowing pedophiles to be used is dangerous and arrogant! According to that letter, if a "child-sex offender" has developed a "good name" over time, he could be used and reach out for congregation priveleges. This is not "Best Practices"! A deviant sex-offender knows how to conceal his habits through other outlets, eventually his ugly habits will surface again. The Baptist Church will not risk a "child-sex offender" ever running a church or insinuate they are in authority!

I am very limited in what I can do as regards pc`s etc. but surely this quote can, or should be used in the Australian investigation of child abuse by religous or other organizations in it`s many forms taking place now.

It's not about whether a man is genuinely qualified or unqualified to hold a leadership position.

    It's about loyalty.

If said "known pedophile" is nevertheless a loyal company man, his chances are better than, say, an individual with actual leadership skills, but is more of an out-of-box thinker.

And do the elders have better things to do with their time, like knock on doors?

They LIVE for doing that kind of stuff: it's their ego-boost time (vs cleaning windows, pools, etc)....

Why don't they just say, it will be a cold day in hell before you will ever do anything other than vacuum and clean toilets?

To play Devil's Advocate, that wouldn't be consistent with Jesus' idea of repentence, not judging others, forgiveness, etc. If they came right out and said "it'll be a cold day in Hell", then it wouldn't be consistent with the hopes for redemption.... Blame the Bible.

NOW, just because the letter doesn't SAY "it'll be a cold day in Hell" doesn't mean the elders cannot get the unwritten message that it WILL be a cold day in Hell, if they reject people for the cut of their jib (bad breath, etc).

Why do they want to give privileges to supposedly reformed pedophiles? My theory is they don't have enough brothers and they don't want to start rejecting men for a history of various things like child molestation, viewing pornography, being DF'ed in the past.

It is self serving to keep such men thinking they can be elders one day. If they knew it was never going to happen, they would not kiss assessed for years. Plus, I imagine they actually believe that following orders from WTS will actually "change" a man. It's similar to their guidance for homosexuals.

Well, that's a good point, too, as well as remembering that simply telling a pedophile he cannot EVER have privileges will likely drive him away, decreasing the active member roster of R&F.

I'm reading the letter as establishing a two-tier system for pedophiles: those where it appears to be an isolated incident that might be a "he said, she said" questionable case, vs those who are labelled as "predators". It's hard to imagine the latter have a hope of being given privileges, whereas the former makes a bit more sense of offering at least the HOPE (however unlikely it may actually be).

Uh, have you forgotten who we're talking about here: JWs? The same ones who get free volunteer labor at the factories AND in the field as their distribution network?

Funny thing is, when I was a young teen I worked after-school, doing D2D sales for the L.A. Times; I made a $1 per subscription for every home delivery I got to sign up. I made more doing that than a JW makes, incentivized by chasing a fake lure of a pet lion for an eternity!
