Thanks coco...got a couple more examples so I really get it? I would probably just put a comma there if left to my own devices...LOL
Who is always the subject of a verb:
John is the man who does the most meticulous work.
Who will be the first to give up?
He is the person who we think will win the prize. ["we think" is parenthetical]
Whom is the object in a sentence/the object of a preposition:
Grandma is the one whom I love the most.
To whom will you offer the first rose of spring?
WHEN IN DOUBT, USE WHO!
A colon may introduce a quotation:
I was recently thinking of some very hopeful words from the pen of George Eliot: "It is never too late to be what we might have been."
In writing a letter, the salutation is followed by a colon in a formal letter:
Dear Sir:
They met on friday every week
Their leader was a grammar geek
The table had a hefty spread
Of sweets & treats & wine & bread
They told their weekly tales of woe
And oh the wine and beer did flow
punctuation grammar games
everything to mispelled names
They laughed and drank to purge themselves
Like crazy little grammar elves.
You are a true poet, Nancy! Thanks for your cheerful and laffable verse.

RE: Spelling Rules
"i" before "e", except when you run a feisty heist on a weird beige foreign neighbour.
Neither the height nor weight of the Sheik's rottweiler changes how he reigns at his leisure.
