    Good one kurtbethel:

    Pure language? Ha!

Quick, tell me what a "generation" is?

    They have a corrupt language.

Quick, tell me (you 7 million + JWs) who is the FDS Jesus spoke of?

Was C. T. Russell part of the FDS?

Is the cleansing Jesus spoke of in Mat 24 fulfilled in Christendom or is it ongoing today among the JWs, in particular the anointed and the FDS?

So what might happen if the R&F actually did what they are told to do in this paragraph?

5 Like them [the sons of Korah], do you have a desire to study and recount the history of the earthly part of Jehovah’s organization? The more you learn about God’s organization and how Jehovah supports his people, the more real God’s Kingdom will be to you. -- w2012 8/15, p. 12, para. 5 - [Emphasis added]

Well of course it's virtually impossible for a faithful JW to discover any really accurate history of the organization using only the publications that are currently available from the Society, the WT Library CDs only go back to 1950 and the online version only goes back to 2000!

But wait, the current WT is here with the solution!!!

The last two pages of this same WT issue, August 15th, 2012, has a little history featurette called, From Our Archives.

It offers what is clearly a highly sanitized, carefully worded version of early JW history. This particular article seems mostly slanted to encourage the Door-to-Door ministry.

Nevertheless, notice a couple of really surprising things that anyone that carefully studies this short two-page article will discover:

    Why would they do that?!?

    Curiouser and curiouser!

    Oh, ugh...

In preparation for reading this study article, I read LAST week's article, "I Am With You" - unfortunately available only in the 'simplified' version - and I was struck by this odd interpretation of Daniel 12:4:

"...To strengthen our faith in Jesus' promise, we will now discuss a prophecy that Daniel wrote in Babylon more than 2,500 years ago. He wrote about our time: "Many will rove about, and the true knowledge will become abundant." (Daniel 12:4) We now understand that in this verse, to "rove about" means to study carefully. ..."

    BiZARRE!!

Paragraph 4's comments about "learning the new language" is chilling, too... Talk about opening a doorway for 'cultspeak' to indoctrinate the mind!

"...Learn the language. Some human governments require that those applying for citizenship speak the dominant language of the country. Even after being granted citizenship, people may strive for years to master the new language. ... Similarly, God's Kingdom requires that its citizens learn what the Bible calls the "pure language." ... Citizens of God's Kingdom may learn basic Bible teachings quickly and get baptized. Even after their baptism, however, they must strive to "speak" the pure language better and better. ..."

That sends cold chills up my spine... Pity the poor children subjected to such pressures!!

Okay, the irony between the comments in paragraph 3 and paragraph 8 just struck me... [bold mine]

    Paragraph 3:

"...Today, people work hard to qualify to become citizens of a prosperous country. How much more should we value the opportunity to be Kingdom citizens! To deepen our appreciation for that privilege, let us consider some similarities between the requirements for becoming a citizen of a human government and a citizen of God's Kingdom. ..."

    And Paragraph 8:

"...Examine the way you react when you receive counsel about what you feel is a personal preference - for example, on the matter of dress and grooming. Before becoming a Kingdom citizen, you may have preferred to dress sloppily or provocatively. As your love for God grew, you learned to dress in a way that honors him. (1 Tim. 2:9, 10; 1 Pet. 3:3, 4) You may feel that you now dress modestly. But what if an elder was to tell you that your preference in attire is causing serious offense to a number of publishers in the congregation? How would you respond? ..."

How many secular governments do you know of, that demand such absolute obedience of their citizenry at large, to such minutia as the color of one's shirt, the length of one's hair to within an inch, the length of one's skirts, the color and type of nylon hosiery, and so on??? ESPECIALLY based upon whether one's neighbor would consider your preferences in dress to cause "serious offense"...

Try running THAT past your local police station. They'll LAUGH you out the door!!

Zid - that interpretation of Daniel 12:4 is truly bizarre. So now children and those with limited English (or I guess those who the simplified edition targets) will believe that "rove about" means "study carefully". Wonder what the teacher at school will say when the little JW kid says "I'm going to take my homework and rove about."
