That being said (see above), the JW's ruined my life and I am far from being a WT supporter.

Interesting and educational comment, iamwhoiam. I have no problem with investing in the stock market nor the Watchtower investing in the stock market or in hedge funds. But I do have a problem with Watchtower sending out a message "that anyone who puts his trust in Satan's system will be profoundly disappointed" and used Alex's experience in the stock market as an example. For years, Watchtower condemned investing in the stock market calling it "gambling" yet did it themselves. The duplicity of this organization is mind-boggling. Even though in Alex's case, it was not stated that investing in the stock market was in itself wrong, the Witnesses will understand the message loud and clear.

iamwhoiam, what you just said means that the Watchtower uses their members like batteries, like in the Matrix. They need them to be performing "charity" so that they can use that loophole to use their donation money to create wealth. Why is wealth so important? Why not just have an organization that lives within the means of the donations taken in? When you think about it, the annual assemblies work much like a shareholders meeting. Since the R&F are so important to the grand money making scheme, why don't they get a share of the wealth that is made off their backs?

It's like peering into the mind of a psychopath.

Barbara: I agree with you 100%. Its one of the most hypocrytical things i've ever heard. Your story was enlightening.
Sabastious: I also agree with you. "..when it comes to money, everyone is of the same religion."

Very good point, sab, "Since the R&F are so important to the grand money making scheme, why don't they get a share of the wealth that is made off their backs?"
One JW I knew gave $1,000 monthly to the organization for years for the "world-wide work." WT invested his money and made more money. If that donation and the investment profit truly helped members, it wouldn't be disagreeable, but as we all know, the money bought property, and more and more property, until the WT is Midas-rich in property. But as they put "their trust in Satan's system" they are now profoundly disappointed because they are property rich and cash poor and are finding it difficult to sell billions of dollars of property they have for sale all over the world. (And that's a fact folks and you can quote me.)

Is Alex 'Andre' re-incarnated? Inquiring minds want to know.

Because that wouldn't be capitalistic, that would be socialistic. And unless you are the government, there is no money in socialism. In order to have winners, you have to have losers. The tried and true way of getting losers to give up thier money to winners is to delude them. If you can convince people that they are getting something great in return for thier investment (e.g. everlasting life as pointed out by the WT or an enriched life as pointed out by wallstreet)...you can get very rich very fast. People want to believe, it's human nature. However, Kharma is a bitch when you try to force feed the blue pill down everyone's throat.
Of course...this is just my perspective.
Sab..your matrix analogy is dead on. If you like this kind of thing...might I suggest a book entitled "The True Believer" by Eric Hoffer. It's a short read and you can recommend it to people who are beginning thier journey out of the matrix.
