TS: "The same dog that bit them is gonna bite me someday too"

Theocratic Sedition - "The old man paroled on Shawshank Redemption comes to mind when I think of older ones trying to keep up in todays society."

Aw man, that scene always puts a lump in my throat. Like, seriously.

Theocratic Sedition - "I dont like to laugh at them too much because the same dog that bit them is gonna bite me someday too."

Yeah, I ain't gonna have no use for that newfangled "ver-too-all reality" horsepucky myselfs...

(There, I feel a little better, now.)

That's just pure BS, using age as a dodge for lacking computer skills. Take someone around 50, they could have vastly more technology experience than someone who is 20. The 20 y/o would never have programmed a Commodore 64, played 8 track tapes or vinyl records, Used an Apple ][ or original PC XT, or had the amazing for its time Commodore Amiga. All of those things give a depth of insight into use of technology that can not be had from simply opening a box and pulling out a device to use.

Face it, he is really just a lazy old codger who wants to do things the way they were done 40 years ago when his mind fossilized.

One tell for when someone fossilized, look at their hair style, clothes or music.

Personal computers have been in common usage for over 35 years, and the Internet has been widely available for over 15 years.

I'm 53 and I was forced to learn how to use a PC when I was 25 as they became common in the workplace. I got Internet service before I was 40.

I'm saying that the older brother had his chances to learn. He chose not to.

Overheard at a quirky little film fest of independent shorts: Youtube pronounced,

    You: To Be

I volunteer for a program that reaches out to the elderly and helps them get computer training, if they want that. We help them develop any skill they would like to pursue.
