You are constantly told to wait on Jehovah (god) for answers to your scriptural questions and doubts.
You are not allowed to be baptised because your hair is too long (male)
You are not allowed to be baptised because your dress does not cover up the fact that you have a very sexy body (female)
You are not allowed to be baptised because you do turn in a preset amount of field service time each month, or you haven't joined the Ministry School.

you know you WERE in the wrong religion---when you realise your own children have shunned you for the last 25+ years.
I would like to say that many of these things should have been signals not to become a member. I have checked out many other religions since I left the WTS and I am unaffiliated as the Pew Survey says. There has always been something I could not endorse and the groups involved required that I do.
It was the same with me, Blondie, when after the jw's, I went looking for a religion out there that I could accept.
. . . . you just had to supress the thought that you might be in the wrong religion.

Your leaders stumble and bumble around like a drunk in a dark alley when expaining scriptures like Matthew 24:34. Six times in a century they change their explanation, insisting all the while that they know what Jesus "evidently" meant when speaking about "this generation"
...when the presiding overseer tells you, in the middle of outlining your crimes but without naming them, that he is doing so lovingly, and then repeats, "it's all out of love."
... when you are denied life saving medical treatments.
... when you are told you must subjugate yourself to someone else.
You know you are in the wrong religion when ...
God needs a man to speak for him.

and you are told to shun your own family.
and you are told to kill yourself or a child by refusing a blood transfusion.
When you are told "A generation" can be more than "one generation".
When you were told you didn't need college because you would not have time for a career in this system and now you a card carrying member of AARP.
