I've been following the Lance Armstrong debacle, although I'm not really interested in sports. It's interesting how at first it was hard to believe that he was guilty of doping, because of his public image. It seems, though, that the evidence is overwhelming. One article I read today said that he was a scapegoat, and that everyone in his generation of bike racing was doping, that he has been singled out. The implication was that it was a little unfair, but it seems to me that he was the winner, so he of course would be the focus of the investigation. Also, if there are 10 speeding cars and the cop stops only you, it doesn't cut any ice with the judge if you cry "unfair." Doesn't matter that everyone wasn't caught, does matter that justice is done with the ones who are caught.
Another article I read today said that the insurance company that paid him 5 million dollars in bonuses is suing him for the money. They didn't want to pay out at the time, because they claimed at the time he wasn't clean, but were forced to pay in court. So now they're asking for 7.5 million back from Armstrong - the bonus plus all their court costs.
What do you think?
