Just rented this one last night, with the alternate ending. Denzel was great! All my daughter and I kept saying was..."He picked the wrong rookie to set up! Ethan Hawke was the real man!"
I have never seen Denzel play a bad role. He can take a part and make it so intense. Like "The Bone Collector". Did the entire movie from a bed.
It's about time he got rewarded for his work.

I laughed out loud near the begining of the movie when they were in the intersection and D pulled the gun on the rookie and made him smoke that joint. Traffic all around.
I must be sick.I think D should get the Oscar for his performance in "John Q"
Take a box of KleenX to see that one. "GREAT movie" TWO BIG THUMBS UP.

I'm sorry, I couldn't sit through this movie. It was braindead as far as I'm concerned. From what I saw I would NOT given the oscar to Denzel. He deserved it for Hurricane.
Crowe deserved it, but they just hated his BS attitude so it cost him.

My favirote scene is when ethan hawk is left in the apartment with all the mexicans and they almost kill him in the bath tub, i thought it was amazingly well acted and very intense. Loved it.

Pat......they just changed the last scene when Ethan Hawke pulls up in his driveway. Instead of it ending there, the three guys who Denzel met in that fancy restaurant, (Tom Berringer, and two others I can't remember the names of)were waiting for him. They asked where the money was. I thought they were going to kill him. But he just looked at them and said he did what he was supposed to do. He put it in lock-up and had it signed in. Those three men looked white as ghosts. Then they just got in their car and drove away. They knew they were finished.
In the original ending, you didn't know if he kept the money or not. It just ended with him in the driveway. I kept thinking the Russians were going to be waiting for him.April

Oh Pooo! We watched it last night with the original ending. I like the alternate ending better!
