And if there is any misunderstanding in the retelling, re-retelling, re-re-retelling (repeat and rinse), then the words chosen will reflect those misunderstandings.
So how can creating a doctrine stating that God is a fiend, brute, sadist... based on such misunderstanding... be correct?
Christ is the image of God. There is no other. If you want to understand God (the Father of Christ), then you must look to Christ.
Now the OP makes perfect sense based on that assumed understanding of the story. My point was only that that assumed understanding does not reflect the nature of God.
