    TEC:

Sometimes, mP, you have to think and make a right judgment for yourself.

    mP:

Is this not very much flawed. Its this kind of thinking that allowed for example slave owners to pick and apply Moses law so they could have black slaves.

Given everybody has differing opinions, how exactly does one know what to pick and what to ignore, especially when Jesus says ITS ALL perfect in Mat 5:17 ? I mean if its perfect in Jesus eyes who are we to judge or correct whta Jesus said ?

He corrected the law that Moses gave to tell people the truth of the matter. Same with eye for eye. Same with taking oaths.

    mP:

Not quite, Jesus did not change Moses directions about telling the truth, he only clarified its spirit. However you still have not explained the rest of the law ?

THE law... and Moses law (and how it was transcribed, and translated due to their misunderstanding/misapplication)... are not always the same thing.

It is a simple answer, mP. Christ said not to do it, and he instructed us what to do instead. So someone who follows HIM, listens to what HE says to do. Simple.

    mP:

No where does Jesus tell us slavery is wrong but rather he gives plenty of examples encouraging slaves to be good and obedient. Of course you keep telling me what he says but you never show me scriptures.

What scripture are you using to define what is "the law"? Are you not rewriting your gospel of Jesus picking what you like, ignoringor editing out what you find torublesome ?

Maybe I'm over my head here, but.... what are *we* doing with Hebrews 8:8-13?

These verses do not address feeling another man up, but with respect to the covenants, they seem pretty comprehensive to me. Moving through to Chapter 9 - uh... no mention of feeling men up there either. Maybe that's part of that old covenant.

If you read about the word testament, you will notice it comes the Latin, which also shows that the jews were not the only ones who grabbed testicles when making an oath. Times may have changed, but it would appear this custom was widespread. I guess this goes to show that what we read and think we understand about the text is often wrong simply because we live in a very very different world.

Often reality is more absurd then fantasy. Im pretty sure if we went back in time to see the temple or Abraham we would be shocked at what we saw and realise that things are very different from what we are told or what we think we know. I mean before you read those scriptures would you honestly believe thts how they took oaths in the ancient world ?

Mormons do , including the inappropriate touching ( well they did until the recent change!)
