Okay. So theism/atheism kind of debates. Not my thing for a while.

I would be cool (after CA is done with his choice) with someone presenting an article or book or something on evolution or something else in science, and then commenting on how it works (or does not work) with God and/or Christ. Then i get to learn AND share at the same time ;)

Have you read 'The Language of God' tec?
What was your impression of it?

I have not. I do not tend to read theology books. I know that some might find this arrogant, but I have never wanted to be... influenced... by an 'expert' on theology. I prefer to rely on Christ to teach or guide me into anything I need/want to know about God.
I did read Mere Christianity, but it was right after I stopped my study with the jw's.. a gift from my sister because she knew how much I was hurting, and how lost I felt, and she was trying to help. But that was a hard read... all mainstream christianity, lol... right after the wts.
Reading the description above,t hough, This one above does sound interesting. Not theology as much as it is the merging of science and God. I do love that sort of thing. Sounds the same as what I understand, but perhaps with the scientific background to back it up more. If you guys are going to go ahead and do this book, I'll try and get out and pick it up this weekend. No guarantees though ;) I might just comment where I can, and keep silent where I can't.
peace,
tammy

He's not an expert on theology (that I'm aware of, please correct me if I'm wrong on that)...he's a scientist who believes in god. I bet you'd enjoy it...I did when I was a non athesit. And there is a lot of it I still enjoyed as an atheist. Just the mans knowledge of genetics makes it worth a read. And he believes in theistic evolution or evolutionary creation. Sounds right up your alley. THe information about genetics is probably basic for someone with a good knowlege of it (my partner didn't learn much at all reading the book). But I didn't have much idea before reading his book so I learnt a fair bit.
Although, he does seem to have strong religious connections because In 2009Pope Benedict appointed him to the pontifical academy of Sciences. But I don't know if you have to support catholicism to belong to this or not.
The Pontifical Academy of Sciences (Latin Pontificia Academia Scientiarum) is a scientific academy of the Vatican, founded in 1603 and later re-established in 1936 by Pope Pius XI. It is placed under the protection of the reigning Supreme Pontiff. Its aim is to promote the progress of the mathematical, physical and natural sciences and the study of related epistemological problems. The Academy has its origins in the Accademia Pontificia dei Nuovi Lincei ("Pontifical Academy of the New Lynxes"), founded in 1847 intended as a more closely supervised successor to the Accademia dei Lincei ("Academy of Lynxes") established in Rome in 1603, by the learned Roman Prince, Federico Cesi (1585–1630) who was a young botanist and naturalist, and which claimed Galileo Galilei as its president. The Accademia dei Lincei survives as a wholly separate institution.
The Academy is headquartered in the Casina Pio IV in the heart of the Vatican Gardens. The academy holds a membership roster of the most respected names in 20th century science, including such Nobel laureates as Ernest Rutherford, Max Planck, Otto Hahn,Niels Bohr and Charles Hard Townes.

It seems highly incongruous to see a scientist who apparently believes in the Christian or bible 'god', when the history of the bible and of Christianity show such antipathy towards scientific learning and progress...

Face off? This thread's very premise is unfair. Atheists are the only side armed with effective weapons! Reason, logic and facts. Run, creationists, run! You will not survive the crossfire!

Zid,
Wrong thread your post is about something almost no one here beleives in. You have theist here but very little creationist.
Maybe another thread it sure was funny btw.

You will not survive the crossfire!
Creationists certainly won't survive a crossfire, but most of the non-atheists here have a more sophisticated view of spirituality and science, so they may give a good run. Naturally I believe that we shall CRUSH them, but don't take that personally. I'm an atheist! I have been called to arms. LOL
