I hope for a resurrection to life in heaven or on earth. I'm not done on my research yet, but to this point it would seem that heaven is where my hope is. I really don't care which as long as it somewhere. THis life can't be all their is, what a waste if it was. To spend 70 - 80 years learning so much and then that's it. For what? There must be more and the bible does point to more. I'm just not positive about where or what? I'm really leaning toward heaven though at least that is where my studies have leaned me towards.

Frankly, my current hope is that I will get the all clear to start running again so I can lose the last of my postpartum weight and be in a bikini before summer.

Dear friends,
intresting treads, but for me as a on going JW, your posts proof that if i leave JW i come to the land of nowhere, it dont seems too bee so very nice place. I understan your points, but my life i tjĀ“himk is more happy going on as a Jw, despite all errors.
Some good points as i see it, is the HOPE, the brotherhood, been inn many countrys and meet a lot of my brothers and sisters, unforgetabel memory.
This biblical ruels have learnd mee to bee a better man, i have 3 sons, only one is JW, and i think life is going much better for him than it does for tha two others, who dont want to follow laws, and have several problems beaucause they are like anarcists, like so many other young peopel today, dont tell us what we must do, we do what we want for the day is the leading tema, littel tragical i think.
Also i preciate the freind as i have among JW.
so sorry when i read abauot all mess in some congs, hapy i dont meet that.
Only some explanations why it can bee good life too still bee aJW.
And to the girls on this site i must say you are impressing widh your nowlige abaout computers, i have never understand how you make this marvelus things like xena for exampel. -

Hi Happy,
I wonder, do you really understand all the points made? I made two that were very different from what the rest said. I couldn't understand everything you wrote, but I'll try to reply based on my best guess.
Living in the present does not mean you don't care about your future - rather there's just no fantasizing about what "might be" based on wishful thinking. It doesn't mean that I don't have goals or aspire to do anything, but I just see them as possibilities rather than something to hang on to in lieu of the present reality. It's not a matter of "let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we will die."
As for ownership, it is also a matter of being realistic. Often we will say we "have friends", or "have" the brotherhood or what have you - but is it really something that is absolutely yours, and something that can never be taken away from you? Most people don't like to think about that, but I think it's just a matter of what expectations you have. If you expect nothing, then anything you receive is a gift, even if it is temporary.
Friend, I would invite you to look at where your hope lies, and see if they are real. A key point is where in time you are placing your hope, but also in what. I am glad you are happy, but if that happiness is not based on anything substantial then you may be in for a big disappointment.

to become and stay a good man, and be kind to my wife, children and extended family. Not much else to do beyond that, though. I just want to be a good person and soak up the world.

I am trying to discover reality and adjust to that. No belief in any dead men's fantasies for me.
I also have been case hardened to the extent that I challenge any motive of mine that I can trace to fear. Fear and ignorance are the worse two motivators I have ever seen.
Ignorance is the nail and fear is the hammer.
A pragmatic approach to human living has worked well. The people who used to have the ability to control me with fear and superstition do not like me anymore at all. None of their old tactics work anymore.
I have new friends who I like a lot. I do not grieve the loss of the old ones anymore. In fact I might have forgotten them.
