From time to time there are things said by the Brother giving the public talk or conducting the Watchtower that just make my jaw drop. Here are two from Sunday. 1. "We are 98 years into the last days" 2. "People in the world imagine Armageddon as some type of nuculear destruction, however it is going to be the best thing that every happened to the earth." With the above said everyone just nods in agreement. Sour Grapes

We kinda get an idea of how Jehovah feels about statements like #2, which even makes me thing prayers to the same effect are NOT something Jehovah approves of.

    Amos 5:18-21

18 “‘Woe to those who are craving the day of Jehovah! What, then, will the day of Jehovah mean to YOU people? It will be darkness, and no light, 19 just as when a man flees because of the lion, and the bear actually meets him; and [as when] he went into the house and supported his hand against the wall, and the serpent bit him. 20 Will not the day of Jehovah be darkness, and not light; and will it not have gloom, and not brightness? 21 I have hated, I have rejected YOUR festivals,+and I shall not enjoy the smell of YOUR solemn assemblies.

Looking at the cover illustration on the January 2013 Washtowel, I suspect every JW will be soiling their underwear if they're anywhere in the vicinity of those fireballs.

our old PO Ted Sallows loved statements like these, he was convinced and said it numerous times that the "good news" without any shadow of doubt would be completedworld wide by the end of the millennium then the end would come very quickly (circa late 1980's now almost 2013) that many many millions would be JW's it wasn't for the blood issue.

We are "98 years into the last days" is almost ridiculous as "we are 77 months into the last seconds"

    Are these people on crack?

SG: "We are 98 years into the last days"

    Yeppers!

The WT even said Jesus has been on the job since 1914:

Since 1914, however, the Messianic Kingdom has been taking progressive steps to restore that unity and harmony ...

    1. "We are 98 years into the last days" 2. "People in the world imagine Armageddon as some type of nuclear destruction, however it is going to be the best thing that every happened to the earth." With the above said everyone just nods in agreement

Religion = an agreement to set lies and ignorance !

This guy is going to eat his words when 2014 comes and goes with nothing happening

When he says " People in the World " but he forgot that the WTS. uses imagines of grand global destruction ( nuclear )

on the front cover of their magazines to create attractive commercial appeal.

To me, the great irony is that the WT itself doesn't correctly understand what Revelation says about Armageddon.

In WT teaching, Armageddon happens well into the great tribulation, after religion has been destroyed.

But in Revelation 16:16-21, the order of events is

v.16 Nations gathered to place called Armageddon

v.17 Last bowl of anger poured out, involving:

Divine statement that "it is finished"

    v.18 Thunders, lightnings

    Great Earthquake, involving:

v.19 Great City split into three

    Cities of nations fall

Babylon handed God's cup of wrath

    v.20 Islands and mountains removed

    v.21 Great plague of hail

Since v.16 specifically calls Armageddon "a place" (symbolic or otherwise), all of the "events" from verses 17 - 21 happen "at" Armageddon.
