Someone I know just attended a Circuit Assembly and said they do the baptisms during the lunch break now??

"If you're gunna go for lunch - try not to be too noisy on your way out." To paraphrase what she said the bloke on the platform said.

    Wtf? Is that right?

Soon you won't need baptising: "Leave that for the anointed... Just sign here... Here... And here."

    Been doing that for years/decades.

This indeed has been done offline/not during official assembly time (if not during lunch) forever, it seems.

And really - this is rather odd, is it not? Baptism really should be a more important special rite with them than the memorial - at least they expect everybody to get baptised, even if they never actually celebrate the memorial...

Last C.A. I went to was about four years ago... Baptisms were before lunch - not during it.

At least on this side of the pond.

I was just thinking... The pool is in the same room.

Don't know if perhaps I wasn't clear... It's always during lunch at the DAs, where they have to nip off for a splash and get back, but in the local the pool is in the same room.

Some people used to make sure they didn't get baptised at the DA just because of the effort.

In the US, baptisms have been done during the "noon meal" (apparently the word "lunch" has pagan origins as I've never heard it used from the platform) for as long as I can remember, 40+ years.

My point was - why don't they make this a highlighted part of the assembly program itself?

It is supposed to be one of the very few high religious celebrations they have.

i got dunked in the Astrodome. before/as lunch started. we changed during the afternoon announcements, song, and loong prayer. 3-4 pools got everyone in and out pretty quickly. that gave us 1/2 hour for love bombing and lunch.

I understood your point -- Perhaps it's different in the U.S. from here... I'm sure when I was younger it WAS part of the program. Last thing before lunch on a Sunday. NEVER during lunch.

And the person I spoke to told me how she ended up talking to a sister she didn't know about the change... Both of them were disturbed that it seemed disrespectful. Neither are young.

This was a change to them both.

(Unless both are suffering dementia and I'm remembering my childhood wrong)

It has been done during lunch in the USA for decades. A few reasons:

    1. People leave their seats and go near the pool to cheer and take photos.
    2. Can't waste valuable mind-control speech time on this.
