I don't think this is just the pedo cases ,but an accumulation of reasons:

    1. Internet has brought to standstill increase in developed countries ,revenues due to unhappy witnesses in these countries are in decline .The expansion to other developing countries was only possible because of these contributions .The current model in unsustainable therefore the closure of many branch offices
    2. WTS has in the past and until recently dubled in the stockmarket and the hedge fund market ,heave losses ? or unwise investment ? (we'll never know)
    3. Recession is taking a toll on donations ,have a look on th opencharities.org to see a sharp decline in revenue in 99% off all congragations in Britain
    4. Pedophilia cases will definetely increase

GB 1.0 used to put so much effort into creating new branch offices. These were supposed to be centers for the post-armageddon civilization. I guess GB 2.0 is scrapping that idea.

Gosh, is satan prevailing??!! Armageddon will need to be postponed, again. Remember, that jehovah's soveriegnty needs to be proven as the right thing, before he can slaughter everyone resisting it. Or, maybe he'll need to do another 'confuse the languages at babylon' thing to give himself a chance.

Please, can anyone point out any African Branch that was closed? Then we figure out what statement that brother in question refers to.

... reassigned to the preaching activity ...

Hmmm, interesting spin. Isn't that what they were supposed to be doing before? I mean, c'mon: All JWs are supposed to be ministers, right?

So this was a "reassignment" to their previous assignment!

It must be nice to be on the GB. Words can mean whatever you want them to mean.

Well it must be a money crunch, without these branches some control is lost, well dollars and cents wise it must be worth it,,maybe they are expecting a big hit with lawsuits in the future and sales arn't doing so good.

Liquidating assets in a foreign country got to be a bitch.

Reassigned to the preaching activity?! Hopefully some come to my area so they can offset the deficiency I create as my hours decrease to 0.

The number of branch offices used to be a bragging point and evidence of "Jehovah's blessing." Now, I guess new light is saying it it closing the branches in order to use "theocratic funds" judiously. They are spin doctoring again.

Once the 'Bethelites' are sent away the chances of them going all the way out increase!

A wise business decision long expected.

A wee bit melancholy. I stayed at the Managua branch as a teen and really loved the missionaries there. A shitty city at the time but lovely people. Learned spanish at the Costa Rican branch. Visited the Panama branch also, think we went to an assembly there.

Suffice to say I hope the older missionaries have passed on and don't have to readjust to a life outside the Bethel home. It was their life and they loved it. Nobody had kids to look after them.

    Wonder if the DR survived.
