I thought it was good. It was all too obviously laying groundwork for a new computer game. Gamers will love it for sure.

Bring on Idris Elba, or someone else with the Connery animal magnetism.
I'm thinking a lighter, less serious Bond. Maybe Simon Pegg, or Ricky Gervais.

I've seen it twice, once with adult family members, and once I took one of my grandsons. We all really enjoyed it.
One of us thought it was the best ever.

I've seen all the Bond films starting at the age of 15. Dr. No all the way through the series.
Two things caught me up in the films.
Sean Connery and John Barry's music.
Connery was irreplaceable and so was Barry.
Daniel Craig is the best thing to happen to the films since Connery because he is a fine actor and exudes a dangerous persona.
Connery had a sly sense of humor that isn't fully developed in Craig. But, I'd rather they drop the puns anyway:)
SKYFALL had a lot of things going for it including an involving personal story, great lighting, photography and acting.
I did not care at all for the music score. For me it was barely James Bond-ish and when it was it was mostly an after thought.
John Barry's scores had lavishly interesting MELODY which doesn't seem to be allowed by producers any more.
The Adele song went along fine with the Main Titles--but--lacked the drama, edge and scintillating orchestrations of a John Barry score.
I understand movie music is MY fetish and you can take all this with a grain of salt.
99% of moviegoers will not be bothered in the last by any of this.
I DO recommend the film. Top notch.

Liked: Chases, fights,Music,Scenes,Emotion
Disliked: Too little back story to bad guy, Tube station, Silly use of hacking (not possible.), Idea that Bond is behind times (surely he is trained in modern tech), Lack of forward planning RE Skyfall (no modern kit - really?)/3 month awol/Field Agent ending.
Overall - excellent , worth seeing, no silly gimmicks, good introduction to new characters. Not a patch on Bourne but heading in the right direction.

cult classic
Going to see it tonight. Can't wait.
Yeah I hope Idris gets a shot at Bond. I was surprised to see Javier in the trailer. He's awesome.

I'm sure I won't be seeing 'Skyfall' until it comes out on DVD. I'm a huge Bond fan and have seen all of the films a few times except one (still have yet to see 'Live and Let Die' due to the voodoo/tarot card stuff and the JW issues, I threw it out back when I bought the whole collection, sure am regretting that now, I've heard that was Moore's best one) and I think Daniel Craig is just plain brilliant as Bond--I think the thing that struck me about him at first glance was just that he had the look of a guy who would be doing the stuff James Bond has to do. You know, looking like something more than just physically fit but actually BUILT. I knew I was watching something special happen when I saw him climb those stairs at the end of 'Casino Royale' and deliver the classic line. I kept reading that 'Quantum of Solace' wasn't that good, but I really enjoyed it--thought the character needed that revenge movie to get us back to the Bond we're more familiar with. Also really enjoyed David Arnold's score for that one.
I've heard great things about this film, though, and I'm definitely excited to see it. I do actually think Idris Elba would be great as Bond, he's one of my favorite actors by far--his accent reminds me a bit of a young Sydney Poitier. I can certainly see him filling the tux quite well. I don't think they'd ever go so far as to cast a black man as Bond, though. I'd be very surprised. Then again, they did cast a black Moneypenny, so it's not impossible.

Terry: What did you think of Cornell's song in Casino Royale?
