Q: Which topic will make a JW wake up?

A: When they're ready, almost any will do; if they're not, none!

Well from the point of view of someone who's freshly reached a "tipping point":

What really did it for me though had to do with what this one older-ish sister once said (old enough to be my mom, but not elderly) She was just FREAKIN AWESOME! Soooo smart, funny, quick witted, and wouldn't take s**t from ANYONE. Once she even demanded unsuccessfully fo see the elders manual...

Anyhoo, once I heard her explain to a householder that we are not a cult (yeah I know, just hang on tho) and that our loyalty is to God alone and that she would walk away from the religion in a second if the WTS/GB ever put itself in such an inappropriate place as to require loyalty that should only be reserved for God himself...

Sadly, she past away some time ago, but what she said stuck with me. The last few years, the GB has REALLY dialed up the crazy, to the point it woke me up. I really think if she were still alive, she would have walked away already.

Plus, the information control (like what leavingwt mentioned) really made me question them. Sometimes the whole "DO NOT GOOGLE JWs!!!" thing backfires on them. I got to thinking, what are you hiding? Most religions don't give their members instructions like that, it just seemed too fishy. I finally broke one day (not too long ago), and ended up here.

Nothing will make someone wake up to TTATT.

I would like to have the " Spiritual Mother " teaching explained, especially in light of Galations 4:26.

Here is a question for you. In the Bible, when God wanted his people to take his spokesperson seriously, he would give them the power to do miracles or to prophesy accurately. Example would be Jesus, Moses, Elijah, etc. This was to serve as a sign to the people that they were being used by God.

What sign or miracle has the Watchtower Society ever given in it's 130 year existence that would lead any intelligent person to believe they are being used by God???

Well, they do make such nice magazines and lovely books with lots of pretty pictures ... showing an angry God viciously killing millions of people that wouldn't take the nice magazines and the lovely book with the pretty pictures ...

00dad, they also do the door to door preaching work. Unfortunately, what they preach is all falsehoods, but that's a minor problem, and we are being nit pickers for even mentioning it.

I'd like to see Ethos refute some of Jeffro's points he made.

    Well at least tackle one.

Come on Ethos show us some courageous support for Jw theology.

Did you research specific information concerning certain topics such as why 607 cant be right among the pile of evidence ?

So I'd like to take a poll: Which topic would you like to see a JW discuss most? Another way of putting it, what topic do you think would undoubtedly cause him to wake up to 'the truth about the truth'. Evolution, 607, 1914, blood, Trinity brochure, the name Jehovah, child abuse, disfelowshipping, etc.?

Ethos, you seem genuine at this particular moment, I like way you are respectfully presenting your inquiry. You seem to have a want for understanding of this subject while remaining faithful to your religion. I can respect that, however have you admitted yet that you are breaking the rules by being here? That's why JW apologists are profiled and judged is because of HOW ADAMANT the Society is about NOT going to apostate websites... but yet here you are. A common theme among all JW apoligists is simply ignoring this argument or brushing it off even though it's kind of a trump card. Why are you here? To defend an organization that has explicitly instructed you not to do so? For JW apologists they start out with an audience scratching their head when posting on an apostate forum.

Anyway, I would say the most devistating set of facts are the child molestation court cases namely the most recent one of Candace Conti. For years the argument was the Watchtower had a long line of secret settlements where victims would be hushed, which is damning evidence for sure, but now the apostates have an actual conviction of the corporation in Brooklyn from a CA jury. When presented with these facts a Witness has to say that this group of 12 people unanimously voted incorrectly on a child abuse case if they wish to save face for their organization and their god. This is when a defense becomes very far fetched. Witnesses will take the tiny out and say that it could be a fraud or a conspiracy, but they have to question the very foundations of which their nation stands. This exposes the Watchtower's bogus view of the State and their beleaguered doctrine of neutrality. Romans 13 clearly indicates that governments that have 12 person juries, alongside any superior authoirty, are put in place BY GOD. The language is quite clear:

Romans 13 - 5 Therefore, it is necessary to submit to the authorities, not only because of possible punishment but also as a matter of conscience. 6 This is also why you pay taxes, for the authorities are God’s servants, who give their full time to governing. 7 Give to everyone what you owe them: If you owe taxes, pay taxes; if revenue, then revenue; if respect, then respect; if honor, then honor.

The court system is a privilege allotted to us by our government and it deserves the proper respect as do it's official rulings whether we like them or not. As of right now the Watchtower stands condemned by a system that the Bible says God put in place. To deny it's ruling is to deny God, it's as simple as that. But like Outlaw said if a Witness doesn't want to hear it, they simply won't. But to me the child abuse stuff is your best bet of waking someone up cold-turky, but that rarely happens. It's usually a personal process that cannot be altered from the outside.
