You're absolutely right, dear Palm (peace to you!) - it is your thread and you have every right to keep an eye on it, as well as post on it. I could only ask - .

So as not to derail dear Palm's thread, C, I've taken your comments/question here:

Palm here's where I was going with my comment. I feel no need to batter a believer into submission, dragging them kicking and screaming to what I feel is the logical conclusion - no deity. Reasonable discussion? Sure. Insisting that other people give up their 'faith' in the face of logic? Calling their reasoning idiotic? Not my agenda. Even if I were trying to convince someone, I am smart enough to know that mocking them and denigrating their belief, does nothing more than put them on the defensive.

I admire you for starting this thread, and looking at this issue.

So as not to derail (although some seem intent on it), please see my comment No. 9800, E, here:

Some feel that concept of God is the force that regulates of the balance between strong & weak , forming the foundation of the concept of the "rule of law "

    Rule of Law Definition:
That individuals, persons and government shall submit to, obey and be regulated by law, and not arbitrary action by an individual or a group of

individuals ...Distinguished from the "rule of man"..governance and rules of conduct are set out and may be altered at the discrection of a few select group of persons .

Deeply held convictions spill out through our written thoughts.....

tolerance is made more difficult according to the "rule of law" we see as the absolute final authority .

Regardless of this however I feel common courtesy is pretty easy to figure out if we choose to practice it .

Troubles arrive when statements of deep convictions are seen as being projected upon others

Cofty, here's a few words for you to eat. I hope you find them tasteful. I would thank you to STOP pulling your elder mentality on me, because it doesn't work. I don't need your advice or head-patting "go sit in the corner little gurl" comments.

    My comment, above:

Insisting that other people give up their 'faith' in the face of logic? Calling their reasoning idiotic ? Not my agenda.

    You said, just above:

Nor anybody else's that I have read.

Talesin be careful not to grossly exaggerate imagined offenses.

In fact, I was merely reading a thread an hour or so ago, and came upon this gem -- I wasn't looking for it. Maybe you really don't "hear" yourself. I am not inclined to look up a bunch of your rude comments, and it was kinda serendipitous that I happened upon this one today.

I opted out of this thread ages ago because the assertion in the OP was so idiotic. It sounds like I have been missing out on some classic stuff.

It really makes me despair that while some comment in this thread towards a truce, they at the same time go and make provocative and sarcastic comments on another. Or are we actually saying that if its AGuest's thread it's ok to be insulting. It isn't. It isn't fair at all. Shelby's style or content might not be palatable to everyone but that shouldn't be a licence to be offensive. Just sayin.

cofty - Everybody is entitled to their own opinions but there is no such thing as ones own truth.

I guess it depends how you define truth. And if the same frame of referense is used. Someone could create their own reality.

But agree with you that people do abuse it since they are not creating their own reality. Calling something truth just gives it more punch.
