steve2, I think his thread was a spoof to generate a bit of excitement, probably no harm was meant! I can count twenty members who told me they thought this new format was Jehovah being considerate of people having "no time to read".
Jehovah's Witnesses dismayed by new magazine format from Watchtower Society.

ArbolesdeArabia, your explanation is too kind. I get the impression that some posters easily engage in exaggeration then fail to back it up. E.g., there's supposedly a growing trend of JWs realizing something's wrong in the organization. Now that type of talk does not constitute a spoof at all - that's plain old-fashioned exaggeration - unless of course you can show it is occurring. Which is what my post asked for. I note Balaamass has not responded to my questions. Perhaps he has moved on - or more likely he may not like being questioned too much about his (unsubstantiated) assertions? I don't know - silence is hard to interpret.
This is a well known pattern in media-circles where a journalist makes exaggerated claims that cannot subquently be substantiated. It makes editors very angry and exasperates readers who just want the unadorned facts and not opinionated hyperbole.

the study edition a few months back (about the same time the deaf video broke), showed brothers sharing with a deaf man using an i-pad. They were sharing at some exotic greek island. It occurred to me that this might be the long-term plan. No paper at all.
Yes, there's a 30 min KM item this month describing just how to do that.

Honestly guys, I don't think anyone has breathed a negative word to me in the least if any word at all. I think here in Cali, people are pretty used to high tech and see it as an improvement rather than anything else.
I bet e mail subscriptions are right around the corner.

My mom expressed her disappointment at being able to finish a mag in less than 20 minutes. It doesn't make for very much to offer at the door or to return visits. Most of my parents' calls are more social than religious.

H'mmm, less time wasted reading Cr_p = more time JWs have to think. This could be another nail in the coffin for the WTBTS.
Peace be with you and everyone, who you love,

I remember when they switched from B&W to Color for my language and they were so proud of the latest presses throughout the 90's and early 2000's they bought that could do millions of magazines a day. And then they kept on expanding everywhere and buying more presses.
Now it seems they are attempting to stretch the US presses they bought in the early 2000's, moving them to Canada and aggregating all the printing work for the continent, selling some in Selters and doing all the printing for that side of the world in a single location.
So yeah, it's done to stretch their current investments. They're asking for loans from their members and ramping up the reminders for donating... they're tight and they're reorganizing. Imagine if they actually paid their workers...

@steve2: We have a chance to make a dent into some of the more twisted ideas the W.T.S. is passing as "spiritual light" and we do need to be accuarte. I do appreciate how honest and candid your posting is, even if it might make the "sensationalist" angry as you "call out" hyped claims. I don't think Balaam is trying to make this as a great embelishment, more of a joke how these people are talking about "we are at the great feast, as portions shrink each year!) Your parents would be proud to know they raised a honest man who is not afraid to use his critical thinking skills on either side of this debate (Pro or Anti-JW teachings).
It's crazy but the "JWs" are thrilled over the new "Watch-Tract" magazine, I am learning to bite my tongue before I am labled "thee apostate", by nodding my head by allowing the 70+ crowd to give praise to Jehovah for "making the truth, short and sweet with these new tract style magazines". The Watchtower is going to make another move, this "testing of the waters" by throwing out a crazy doctrine that makes no sense (Faithful Slave, End-Times will be made known) Biblically(whether you believe the Bible is man's or God's world), something is not right about this radical new light.
Steve I feel they have some bigger plan (not some insideous plot) , doctrine wise heading down the pike, thank's again brother!

My mother said the print was too small. But,then, later she seemed to retract her disappointment and convince herself, the change was just great.

I still think the WTS. is going through a kind of reformation because its knows it hitting the great wall of Truth concerning its proclaimed doctrines
it had been spewing out in the past 100 years. I'll even predict the Watchtower will eventually be dropped or converted to another name.
The organization did that once before you'll remember.
