If I do send it, I imagine it would probably contain enough to have me disfellowshipped or they might view it as a DA letter. Don't know if I want to go that far yet.

FREEZE, if you're not ready to "burn the bridge" yet (perhaps for the sake of family &/or friends) then definitely DO NOT send the letter. There's enough in there to crucify you, bury you, dig you up, and do it all over again. LOL Do not give them that power over you.

It was a great expose' though. Frankly, most Elders would not complete reading it. Even the ones who know that what you said is all true, cannot do anything unless they risk being thown out and shunned. They have to toe the company line.

I'm amazed how these men can just write a person off by saying "they've gotten involved in apostate stuff" but they never even make an attempt to refute the allegations. WHY? We know why. Because they CAN'T! Everything you have written there is true. How can it be refutted or argued? And you didn't even get into the claims to being a prophet and thus a False Prophet.

Good reading for lurkers. It will do the most good if they read it than the Elders. So seal it in an envelope and keep in in your desk.

Good letter, but a little long,Im not sure that an elder would take the time to read all of it.Good, valid points!

Your letter is excellent - if the elder is concerned with truth. Unfortunately:

"People prefer to believe what they prefer to be true." - Francis Bacon.

Now this elder can accept what you say, have his eyes opened and realise that The Paradise is an illusion. He then suffers the loss of faith, his family, all his friends , he has to start over. It takes courage and a love of real truth do do that.

Or he can dismiss it as apostasy and carry on with his comfortable way of life. Perhaps it is a no-brainer!

By all means send the letter, but only when you are fully ready to make your exit and burn the bridges.

    All the best...

Mr Freeze; you would get more mileage from such an outstanding letter by mailing it anonymously to everyone in your congregation, family etc. including the elder body. You would need to reword it to a make it more of a general approach rather to anyone specific. Also be careful where you send it from as all letters can be traced by their postmark. Mail them from a different state or county. Great letter, it would be a shame not to send it to someone without the DF repercussions.

Letter looks like a keeper...something to engage JWs over...to get their thoughts. My question is: Is it accurate in every detail or does it need to be tweaked in some area?

As of right now, I have no plans to actually send the letter. This is more along the lines of helping anybody who could use it here. Whether it be lurkers or other people looking to formulate arguments against the WT. And if it comes down to it for whatever reason that I need to send it, at least I have it. For instance, if they threaten to disfellowship me for any reason.

Yeah aquagirl, it is a little long but I felt it needed to cover a wide variety of topics, to show it is not nitpicking one or two issues. Just imagine if I had started in on all the dates and false prophecies.

iclone, yeah that would be a pretty good idea. Unfortunately I only have a few addresses from people in my congregation so that would be a little tough. If I send it to my family, I'm sure they'd know where it was coming from.

Vanderhoven, as far as i am aware all of the details are accurate. A lot of the talking points were taken from sites like jwfacts.com.

    Thanks everyone for your input!

Mr Freeze; Well written. Glad to see the use of reason & current events many JW's have no clue about. Hang onto this. Those still in may need a well written rebuttal some day. Wish I had it before I basically told them to kiss my ass.

a passionate work. the manifesto you should find a way to get those you want to read it, and you found it already here. Vanderhoven 7 tweaking? the baptism treatment. jw -wt ceremonial words are now as far away from Math. 28 as you can get. a total highjacking of a high point in a christians' life. Turning it into a scaremongering induction ceremony, culmunating in a full body shock. invalid in Christ, together with the memorial-observer-only teaching an attempt to deny life. peace.
