Leviathin was said to be a locomotive at one time, now I think it is a crocodile.
Cause you know how easy it is to mistake a locomotive from a crocodile as they are SO similar.

This is pertinent. I had the opportunity to talk to an elder about some of these issues and his position was to suspect me of being demonized and he presumed, regardless of my claim and his personal inability to come up with an answer, it wasn't his responsibility to personally answer this. Plus he presumed that the WTS, at some point, would be able to sufficiently answer any questions he couldn't. That meant all he had to do was follow the advice of the WTS, which was "Wait on Jehovah", meaning waiting onthe WTS rather than "running ahead."
So this is a catch-22 for witnesses. That is, they don't think in terms of having "truth" or making the Bible work out. They are perfectly comfortable accepting some false teachings as long as they think they are in the right religion. So a big problem with this is that the most devoted JW has such a strong concept of the WTS being true and honest and smart that they second guess what is before their very eyes. If they see something is wrong, they are afraid to embrace that if it makes them go against the WTS, instead of seeking an explanation.
So the likely advice of elders will be "not to question" and don't pursue anything that seems to contradict what the WTS teaches, and even if it looks right, know that Satan is a master of deception. It is much like in Jesus' day where he performed miracles that would make you think this person must be from God, but instead, they claimed he did these miracles by the power of the devil. It's hard to show the light to someone who has grown so accustomed to darkness. These people have found another god and they are not letting go of their new golden calf, Bible contradictions withstanding.
This is scary...
I just read those 2004 WT articles. Wow.. All jw's had to believe it or else and now it is false..
i know man, thats why when jdubs come on here an try to defend the wt,im like wow really?

*SIGH* at this stage the elder turned his mind off and floated into watchtower cuckoo land.
It's easier to label someone as something negative to watchtower cult rules than think about your question.
@Larsinger58 - that was one of your best posts ever.
I was going to send that 'as-is', but to be honest I haven't read all your posts. To be fair, I recognize that we all have some issues.
They just don't want so many elders calling the service dept. and bothering their cuppa over inane questions about "truth."

Corporations have the following characteristics. Note that EVERY characteristic mentioned is the same or a very similar characteristic that exists in the WT Corporation, too. The point here is that the WT is first and foremost a Corporation and only collaterally a "religion." Similarities Between The Watchtower and Other CorporationsThey are hierarchical. They are governed by a board of directors. Huge Differences Between The Watchtower Corporation and Other CorporationsI'm sure people can come up with many more similarities, but now I'm going to state some of the huge differences between regular corporations and the WT Corporation. |
"Will going to the elders with questions about recent teachings put me in a good light, or will I be looked upon with suspicion?"
It all depends how you say it. If you wade in confrontational, they will be defensive. If you politely ask their help then you get away with asking probing questions. Of course they always support the Society, that is their raison d'etre and if they did think twice, they would not show it. At the end of the conversation just thank them for their time and say that it is food for thought. ......Unless you want to get d/f'd of course!
what is the 2004 WT mentioned above?
