LOL, I think this thread is silly. To pour scorn on an organization because of the actions or attitude of individual members is a dubious argument. Having said that, I do think A.A. is a relic from the past- seriously, what was known about psychology before WWII? I'm more of a believer in Anne Wilson Schaef's ideas; but I still have my Big Book, and think A.A. is a great organization.

I feel like obviously some people here are in AA and recovering.
Not me....I went to Alanon for a year...and my partner went to AA for about a year. It was great support while we needed it. Neither of us need it any more. It was not our only support system. But it was a valuable one. Especially the ACOA group for me...I may revisit that one day. But...maybe not.
I agree with you trans...I think it is the support and sharing experiences that is invaluable. If you want to go there to prove them wrong, I guess you might get some negative reactions from the people it has helped. Not really surprising. It's not a debate forum. It's a support group.
