Strawman.
"Apostles made mistakes" is different than the "Governing Body issues erroneous doctrine". Since a JW accepts that the Bible is infallible, they accept that the apostles did not make mistakes when putting doctrine into writing.
I need your help friends. Which logical fallacy is being used here?

This is a SUPER common reaction, and it STILL gets me off guard.
Apostles made mistakes, first century congregations had major issues, they were still the only game in town to "incite to love and fine works" and of course to preach.
So the typical response, is that the unique mix of JW's belief system, along with the idea they are the only ones preaching this unique belief system, means it is ok they make mistakes. In fact....its great! Better to change something that to just continue along with it like other religions do!

The only time they drag out this kind of crap is when they've been caught doing or saying something that is clearly wrong.
Anybody that dares to disagree with them on the grounds that they've been known to make mistakes, will be out on their ear.

It is fallacious to think an act is acceptable because someone else engages it, including an opponent.

To reveal the distinction here, Bible believing Christians might counter with questions like:
If you are comparing yourselves with the apostles, why did the apostles writings never need revision, while what the WT presents as truth seems to need constant revision?
The apostles (like all Christians then and now) did not have perfect understanding - true! However did they teach their misunderstandings as doctrine and demand that others accept their false understandings as truth?

I'd first ask what mistakes did the apostles make?
I've noticed that scriptures used in the past do not always indicate it was actually the apostles themselves making mistakes.
If they did make mistakes did people get DF'd and shunned if they didn't accept the alleged mistakes?
Did the apostles take those mistakes and print them in litrature and give talks based on them?
The logical fallacy is it's a big lie to say the apostles made mistakes!

Jesus's apostles: Didn't make mistakes as a group and didn't put wrong things on the Bible: Not part of the FDS
GB: Make mistakes/teach wrong doctrine: "ARE" the FDS.
Go figure.
