I know some have thought that about me. My family used to but I think that hope is dwindling now.
Does Anyone View You As A "Prodigal Son" With The Hope You Will Come Back To Jehovah?

wha happened?
I have an employee who's father I'm friends with. He hasn't been to meetings in years. He was never in. But he does get the weekly comment of, "When are you coming back?", to which my employee responds, I was never in.
It's futile in most cases I think. Once u get outside the box, it really is a whole new world

Ditto. For 25+ years the return to the fold was hoped for, and fought over.
However, upon my admission that I'm essentially atheist with the reply that "there's no hope for you then", I doubt that still exists. But I don't care about it as I once did.

How about the "potential convert"? After all, it says so right there in the Secret of Family Happiness Book that I can be won without a word. As the "unbelieving mate", the rare times I do show up, someone invariably asks how much I enjoyed the service (they've learned not to ask if I liked it), and that they "missed me". The smiles get a little more forced every year.

I have family members who have used that status successfully for years. They are viewed as "weak" or "Stumbled" not as apostates. They say they attend memorials and some meetings, but since they moved out of state no one knows. Everyone in the family "walks on eggs" around them so as not to stumble them.
Seems to be the perfect "Status" for an ex JW.

Minimus:
I think that those who know me no longer view me as a prodigal daughter who might come back.
In part, I think this is because these people have had their eyes opened as to a lot that is wrong there. They just won't leave because they feel there is no place else to go.

I've gotten word through the grapevine that my family thinks I regret my apostasy.
Newsflash: I DON'T.
Granted, I don't like being separated from my JW family members, but I don't regret leaving the JW doctrine. -

I was lost, then found, now I'm lost again. ( in their mind). After a public talk I gave a little over a year ago one family member declared it a modern day miracle that I got back in and actually stood up and gave public talks.
I do remember when I was out before being happier away but got sucked back in. Now I'm out for good. So far having a good fade.
Only headache is dealing with a pushy mother who declares its the truth and we are so close to the end but when I try to make a point about WT flaws she shuts down like a perfect drone.
