So is this announcement you are making announcing the announcement that there are to be no announcements or is the announcement, that there will be no announcements and therefore no announcement about there being no announcements?

In the August 2012 Kingdom Ministry there was an short article that announcements will stop from September 3.

    Adjustments to Midweek Meeting:-

    • Bookstudy lengthened from 25 to 30 mins.
    • Service Meeting shortened from 35 to 30 mins.
    • No announcements regarding field service, cleaning schedules, greetings etc.

As if it wasn't confusing enough even when they had announcements, somebody'd read it wrong and you'd be all confused and somebody else would have to come up and correct 'em...

Well, so I would assume that doesn't include the expulsion announcements. Gee, that's got to be depressing. Then you know for sure that the only announcements are really crappy ones.

    No greetings (peace to you)!

Frankly, all these changes are good for me. The longer my hubby is away from a meeting, the more natural he becomes. Now he has a nice long break after the Sunday meeting.

It's hard to measure, but I've seen a marked cooling of the fervor for field service ever since that second midweek meeting was dropped. Time spent in family study? Ha. Give me a break.

Give people more time to think for themselves, and the plain drudgery of the whole thing starts to add up.

Now, there will be further alienation from the platform. All good.

They still find time to announce disfellowshipping and reproof.

The funny thing is that the Society still frequently sends 2 and 3 page letters that are supposed to be read "at the next service meeting". We just had one on international conventions for 2013.

So you get Brother Stumble-bum up there, who has the 1st assignment on the service meeting, with 2 or 3 such letters, tripping on all the 3-syllable words, and it takes him 10 minutes to get thru the thing.

Now everybody else in the SM has to shorten their parts, or drop the demonstrations, and the whole meetings feels like a rushed chaotic mess.

As opposed to the normal, slow, boring mess it is usually is.

    Oh well, variety is good.

The only thing I hated more than having to prepare a demonstration was preparing it and then being axed as the least important part of the talk. I calmed my nerves and prepared your demonstration, and you canned me from it? Don't ask again buddy.
