On a more serious note, the "Mitchellgate" afair demonstrates that the police, particularly the Met have a long way to go before we can say they have cleaned up their act.
Did they callously set up Mitchell and stitch him up? Was it part of a power struggle giving them chips to minimise the cuts? I don't know but I would not be in the least surprised. I have personally seen police lie to strengthen a case so I am under no illusion as to their overall culpabillity. It will be interesting to see how it develops. Will yet another Met commissioner bite the dust?
