WASBLIND- My JW kids were once 00DAD's kids age, and in California as long as they are under 17 or minors he dOES have rights to see his kids through court orders and visitation rights. But once they turn 18 yrs.of age our children can make their own choices as adults to see us or not. My JW daughters were 17 and 15 when I stopped attending meetings and they chose to not see me due to their wacko JW mom's influence. My son was almost 19 when I stopped attending and he was one of my only supporters when I stopped as he had already stopped attending on his own.

If 00DAD 's kids are almost 18 and he fights it in court he may win he battle to FORCE his kids to visit him, but his ex may spew hatred of him to his kids and he may lose the war even though winning one battle. It's best to look at things long term and stay in as good of graces with the almost adult children as possible, in my opinion. Just a little 2 cents here from one whose been there

Greetings, dear 00DAD, and peace to you! I don't know if this will help (you, personally... or perhaps what you might use to get those three men out of you way), but keeping folks from their family is an absolute no-no in the eyes of the MOST Holy One of Israel, JAH of Armies... and turning one's back on them even more. Why not ask these men, then, how they can call themselves shepherds of God's sheep... while profaning HIS "fast":

“Cry aloud; do not hold back;
lift up your voice like a trumpet;
declare to my people their transgression,
to the house of Jacob their sins.
Yet they seek me daily
and delight to know my ways,as if they were a nation that did righteousness and did not forsake the judgment of their God;
they ask of me righteous judgments;
they delight to draw near to God.‘Why have we fasted, and you see it not? Why have we humbled ourselves, and you take no knowledge of it?’

"Behold, in the day of your fast you seek your own pleasure,
and oppress all your workers.
Behold, you fast only to quarrel and to fight
and to hit with a wicked fist.
Fasting like yours this day
will not make your voice to be heard on high.

Is such the fast that I choose,
a day for a person to humble himself?
Is it to bow down his head like a reed,
and to spread sackcloth and ashes under him?
Will you call this a fast,
and a day acceptable to JaHVeH?

“Is not this the fast that I choose:
to loose the bonds of wickedness,
to undo the straps of the yoke,
to let the oppressed go free,
and to break every yoke?
Is it not to share your bread with the hungry
and bring the homeless poor into your house;
when you see the naked, to cover him, and not to hide yourself from your own flesh?

These men break virtually EVERY provision of JAH's fast. Every one. They bind, burden, load down, and oppress their members. They REFUSE to share their bread, taking in "donations" that NEVER go back to practically help those among them. They not only do not receive homeless strangers into their homes, but rarely homeless FRIENDS/BROTHERS! And they will step right past the naked, even deriding such a one for BEING naked... rather than offer their own outer garment.

And... they not only hide themselves from their own flesh (whether current non-JW or "DF'd" family members, but also spouses/children/parents from either a "previous" life... or, sometimes, even a JW one)... but command others among them to do so as well!

They are those who say to God's sheep, "'There is peace! There is peace!' when there is NO peace." No peace... because "her" fate is sealed: she WILL receive her plagues... she WILL fall... and those still in her will SHARE in her sins and RECEIVE part of her plagues.

Tell these men that, rather than further dividing households and profaning the fast of God, THEY should consider the words of Ezekiel 34 as to THEM... and the consider GET[TING] OUT OF HER... themselves.

Shake 'em up a bit, dear one. Someone needs to. Why not you? At this point, what truly do you have to lose?

Funny, I get more love and understanding from all you "evil apostates" than from the people that loudly go around telling everyone they're the only True Christians on Earth.

The parent that is "in", has the trump card. Because they speak God's thoughts. The one out, is a test for the rest of the family. According to the WT. Will family choose Jehovah over conversing with their df'd relatives? Are u helping or hurting a df'd one by communicating with them.

The WT has been doing this for years and they have the dubs fairly fooled in this regard. They have already groomed the rank and file with a constant bombardment of the same mundane material week after week. Most don't read or even dare question anything anymore. "Shun family? oh ok...."

I hope that the genetic material that 00DAD contributed to the genetic make up of his kids, kicks in. They need to realize they are just rotten for doing what they are doing. He's your Dad!

Yes the GB is the originator of these horrible standards, but the "kids" need to break free. Until then, 00DAD is the biological Dad, but the kids look to the GB, elders in their hall, as the postive male role figure. It's so sick because I know 00DAD, and i tell u, there are many more out there that couldn't come close to the type of Dad he really is. The world is filled with fathers that won't do the minimal out there and he still tries to be more than the father Jehovah commanded him to be.

It's like watching starving people refuse food.

Every one of us can sympathize with you. My son in law has not allowed me to come see my daughter and four yr old grandson for three months. My daughter just renegotiated the deal. I can come to visit, but cannot spend the night under their roof (I live out of town, so I have to pay for hotel), and we cannot discuss religion. I am taking the deal.

I have always been adamant about getting the kids out of the cult for their own good, but they are resisting. That is why I appreciated your post about cognitive disonance and confirmation bias. I think that is what is going on. It helped me understand them. They don't know any better and I did the same thing when I was still in, studying the same things I already knew over and over, subconsciously trying to reaffirm it was really true, trying to put my doubts to rest.

So I am giving up trying to get them out, so I can at least be a small part of their lives and my grandson will know his grandmother loves him.

I hope things work out for you. You are such a good man. If your kids have been turned against you by their own mother, then that is hard to overcome, unless she gets on their bad side, somehow. Don't be surprised if they come to you on the sly. Children naturally love their own parents, even if they have been lied to about them and view them as a bad person. They still love you, and time is on your side. It's just that precious moments are going by and you are not able to be there. That is the tragedy. You can never get these lost moments back. This is so unfair.

Thanks Flipp No matter what advice he get, I'm glad 00DAD can pick and choose from

the one's that serve him best. And more than likely those are the ones who been through

Hi OODAD, I'm sorry that you are so frustrated about not having a loving relationship with your children, but will going undercover help you and your children? Will your children distrust your motives for a couple of years while you regain your privileges? Can you think of other options that may reduce your frustrations?

Have you read Steve Hassan's lastest book (i.e., "Freedom of Mind: Helping Loved Ones Leave Controlling People, Cults and Beliefs") or visited his website? Have you thought about starting a xJW meetup group in your community? Have you thought about showing your kids how fun and enjoyable life is outside the WTBTS by inviting them to join you on vacations that they would enjoy? Have you thought about giving talks to local community groups, churches, and schools about mind-control and being in a high-control group?

Have you consider writing to Congressional Representatives about changing laws for tax-exempt organizations like the WTBTS? Over 100,000 people signed White House petitions to remove the tax-exempt status of the Westboro Baptist Church, why not petition lawmakers to modify the tax codes by defining societal expections that tax-exempt organizations must adher to such as: all organizations should be required to stop promoting to their members to shun current and former members and to promote that members immediately report felonious crimes to law enforcement instead of contacting an organization's legal department first.
