lp: Reddit is an awful catch-all message board. The people who run the site are pedo apologist who allow the creepiest stuff like 'jailbait' sub-forums. They also turned a blind eye to an awful pedophile because he directed a lot of traffic to the site.

Holy Moly Barrold Bonds,
What a sweeping generalisation!
Reddit is simply a forum where people post links or texts on subjects that interest them. They post them to 'sub-reddits' which are generally set up around specific topics. Some of the more popular sub-reddits are Pics, Funny, GIFs, News, World News, etc. Other users then upvote or downvote your post depending on whether they liked it or not. If you have a favourite TV show, or a niche interest, I can almost guarantee there is a sub-reddit for it.
Of course as people can set up sub-reddits for whatever they want, there are some that you would avoid. Just like 4chan - a great site for pictures and info, but if you don't want to have to pour bleach in your eyes, avoid the board called Random.
Anyway, back on topic....

I guess theres a chance that these announcement are posted by JWs to flush out people who are visiting unauthorized sites.
Am I right?

That's an interesting point about whether it is announced to any congregations if a CO is disfellowshipped? Surely it has to be announced, for the same reasons as any other disfellowshipping is announced. I would have thought that it would at least be announced to the congregation he was currently visiting and the next one he is due to visit, because the elders in those congregations need to know at a minimum. Does anyone know the official line on this?

We actually had a circuit overseer disfellowshipped (while he was serving our congregation, in fact).
He said mid-week during the visit that "he had to go back to his old circuit to handle a committee matter" - so Marion Dunlap had to finish the visit special talks. It turned out that the "committee matter" was himself and a pioneer sister in the old circuit.
They never announced his subsequent DFing in any of our circuit congregations - don't know what they did in Missouri, where he came from.
Marion told me later that he had been DFd. I suspect that the new CO did not want the notoriety spread in our circuit.
So, the recent thread about the CO being disfellowshipped in England turns out to be bogus?

Mornng everyone!
The Reddit thread now has a few more comments, but still no name, so this remains unverified and scant on detail. Someone has made a post and asked for the name. Hopefully some more details will emerge.
Interestingly, someone also posted a comment saying the UK rumour appeared to be false. A local (former memebr of the CO's circuit) has claimed it is not false and another poster identifies the CO as Ray McDonald.

Please, be on look out for those big fish and bring them here on JWN. We will be more than happy to help them.

The UK CO is not a red herring. The news itself came directly from an elder I personally know who was in the circuit. I have also since had some additional info on the nature of the DFing from another third party who was in the circuit but not posted as frankly I think it's a bit poor taste to pour over every little detail of someone else's personal situation. Being too explicit about the information can also jeopardise my own position as it could be used to potentially identify me.
