If Jehovah Can Read Hearts Then WHY

HUGE smile at dear tec (the greatest of love and peace to you, dear one!). It wasn't a test - God does not "try" us with evil. It was about faith, as you say... AND "reading" hearts, particularly Abraham's... and what that heart said about love for... the MOST Holy One of Israel, JAH of Armies. Abraham could have hidden how he TRULY felt about the matter from another human, but he could not have hidden what was in his heart from JAH. His heart was opened and exposed to that One throughout the entire ordeal... and not once... not ONCE... did his halt falter. His love... for JAH... did not fail. As a result, JAH's love for HIM... did not fail... and still has not failed. To show HIS love for Abraham, God granted the latter the privilege of becoming the father of Israel... through whom God's His own Son... would come into this world.

It was also much about ISAAC'S faith... and love, too: in and for HIS father... Abraham. Isaac could have begged off and said, "No way!". But... he had faith in his father, Abraham, that that one knew what was best, that that one's faith in God was RIGHT... and he loved his FATHER... so much so that he would have given his life if he father called for it. Remember, Isaac got up on the altar, without fighting, without protest. He went WILLINGLY... because of his love for his father.

Which is what Christ did. Yes, he gave his life because he loved us... but that was not the primary reason. The primary reason... was because he loved his FATHER... and wanted to do HIS will. That's why he said, "Father, if possible, REMOVE this cup from me. Yet, not what I will, but what YOU will."

Christ loved and loves us... and gave his life because of that love. But GOD loved us even before our Lord. HE loved us SO much that HE gave His Son. We might think it was hard for Christ - I promise you... as a parent... it was harder for JAH. Ask any parent whose child willing joins the military... who is willing to give their life for their convictions. Going to battle may be hard for that child. LETTING him/her go... another thing, entirely.

Again, peace to you, dear one... and may JAH bless!

    YSSFS of Christ,

    SA

    Lore:

It's also intersting that 'god's friend' totally didn't think that request was out of character at all.

    mP:

Whats even sadder is Abraham knew what to do with minimal instructions, he already knew all the details. Its evident from the story that Isaac had seen other human sacrifices, and knew and accepted it was his turn. Its also sad that Isaac had such a bad upbringing that he didnt point out how wrong human sacrifice is. After all that and the other unspeakable things Abraham did, its not a surprise he was no different to his neihgbours who did equally disgusting evil things because of their stupid superstition.

    TEC:

I'm not sure it was a test.

Perhaps it was a teaching opportunity. That the point was not only the faith of Abraham -who knew because of God's promise that God was going to make him into a great nation through Isaac, and so he knew that God could/would give Isaac life to fulfill His promise. Isaac would have to live, or at the least be given life back. Paul states something to this effect in the NT, I believe. But also to teach that God does NOT require human sacrifice. Because He stayed Abraham's hand. He was not like the other so-called gods who wanted such sacrifices.

    mP:

Thats utterly disgusting. If the story was retold to you and the names changed it would be classified by all as pure evil. This sort of apology is a terrible example atwhy religion is evil and how it can be used to manipulate dumb sods who believe in god or any god.

Not necessarily, dear mp (peace!). It was more than 5,000 years ago... and not necessarily uncommon back then. So maybe not so much "pure evil" as simply a common occurrence of time.

But now, in light of the situation TODAY... your comment is actually quite funny. I don't have a personal opinion one way or the other as to abortion (to her own master each one will stand or fall)... but I'm willing to bet that if the people of that day (hell, less than 100 years ago!) knew the number of abortions (which is one of the few things you can't blame on religion... well, not much)... that occur EVERY DAY... just in the western world in THIS day... they would say that WE were "pure evil."

I mean, the blind hypocrisy. Given all of OUR... ummmm... "evolution" and "advanced intelligence" (compared to those living more than 5,000 years ago)... WE should have a problem with ONE man being willing to sacrifice his son... for his God... yet, not even having to... but absolutely NO PROBLEM with the MILLIONS of women (and men) who sacrifice their children... one way or another... DAILY? Oh, wait... that's right, it's called "progress."

Yowsa... the "sight" of earthling man...

    A slave of Christ,

SA, shaking head at the... "way" earthling man "sees." Praise JAH... it's not the way HE sees...

Firstly the story is talking about Jehovahs example in what he commands. Are we saying Jehovah was evil because man on earth in the Middle East, had stupid cruel customs ? Im sorry this just makes the story completely human, you have just admitted that Jehovah is the product of human thoughts and customs. No goodness or anything.

You have just admitted that Jehovah is hardly a beacon we should look for inspiration or as an example of what we should copy and try and achieve. In plain simple English, Jehovah in the OT is a class one axxhole, who makes other aXXholes like Hitler look like a saint. This of course goes perfectly with why the OT is pathetic.

The question about God reading Abraham's heart is centered around this verse:i

(Genesis 22:12) . . .And he went on to say: "Do not put out your hand against the boy and do not do anything at all to him, for now I do know that you are God-fearing in that you have not withheld your son, your only one, from me.. . .

    Please consider this possibility:

Why does God only now, after seeing Abraham's attempted obedience, know that Abraham is God-fearing. Either:

    1. God did already know, but for some reason only let on that 'now he knew.'

    2. God did not know until Abraham went thru with his instructions, just as he said.

Quantum physics actually provides a hint of an answer:

When a particle is tested, it is changed. The test of Abraham changed Abraham. It would have changed him regardless of how he reacted to the test. His following thru as he did changed him in a way that God could afterwards truthfully say, "Now I do know you are God-fearing."

So when seen this way, it is not a question of whether God could read Abraham's "heart." He could. His statement that, 'Now He does know . . ." shows that God immediately noticed this change in Abraham's "heart."

Something similar happened in Jesus' case. Although he was already without defect and had a perfect record of obedience, Heb 5:8, 9 says:

". . .Although he was a Son, he learned obedience from the things he suffered; and after he had been made perfect he became responsible for everlasting salvation to all those obeying him. . ."

What I take from this is that it was proven that Abraham was willing to sacrifice his son.

In this he reflected God's willingness to do the same (to legally recover us his children from the authority and captivity of our evil step-father).

Hence God declared the gospel to Abraham (the eternal Abrahamic Testament), and made him our earthly spiritual father.

Jesus righteousness, although yet to be proved in the flesh in future, was also imputed to Abraham.

Why? Joke-hova wishes to enslave the human race, and is willing to test us to see how far we are willing to go toward that end. When a few idiots comply all the way, he is free to cut the test short so he can use the "good outcome" to tease others into following the same idiocy. It also guilts others--Abraham was willing to sacrifice his son, you should be willing to sacrifice your preparation for the upcoming employment, hyperinflation, and energy crisis and pious-sneer. After all, if joke-hova "saved" Isaac, he can [but won't] save you.
