Do some GB know the truth about the truth?

Ray Franz mentioned that some when he was on the GB were realistic about the issues with the religion, that they were just doing the best they could.

How about COs or DOs? The traveling guys really are in a precarious spot should they ever doubt.

My father was a very open minded CO. He did not believe only JWs will survive Armageddon, encouraged higher education, and appreciated material things. He felt the religion was a good way of life. He never read my site. I asked him to, just to understand where I was coming from, but he did not want to. I think he felt he had too much to lose if he had doubts and developed a negative attitude towards the religion.

I would say they know more than the rank and file btw but the "whole truth about the truth" they have a very distorted hazy picture at most due to delusions of a great appointment, they know truth is what they say it is I'll grant them that.

The boys in the service and writing department are privy to details that might rock the boat for the GB, but I doubt they have the cajones to speak up- the "true words that aren't kind" personal observations, might cost them their desk job at Bethel.

I think they are aware of the entailing faults this religious organization had developed over the years, but they are also quite aware of their

own position and the ensuing responsibility they have within the organization which entails keeping the organization fluently operational.

With all the pertaining privileges and perks offered toward these men, its no wonder they stay as GB member for as long as they do,

    most until their deaths.

I am inclined to go along with cedars and Londo (sorry LisaRose) that the GB is caught up in its own collective image of itself and is blind to the truth about the truth. Maybe a few individuals in their quiet moments may wonder, but I think they still shake it off and focus on the supposed higher responsibility entrusted to them. That interesting jwfacts about your dad. That's the way it was with me for years, Oh I knew something was not right but I could not bear to seriously investigate as I knew where it would lead. When I finally did...oh well.

I think that in CoC Ray indicated that the GB of his day believed it themselves, although with considerable doubts on the part of Knorr and others about the 1914 date.

I tend to think the current GB is similar.

I think they are genuinely puzzled as to why Armageddon didn't come as expected in the 20th century.

    But that's just my opinion.

I asked Ray Franz this very question close to 10 years ago. Ray's response was that while he was not a mind reader the people of the governing body generally believed what they were doing was right.

To me that was a logical answer as they most likely accept what they put forth and when fallacies arrise they merely intrinsically reconcile it. They have everything invested and as others have said are probably captives to their own concept.

You would think that someone like ray franz, as a gb who saw a few faults would have seen the tatt. But no, he did not. He even clawed and basically begged to stay where he was. Even after being treacherously kicked out, he still maintaned the same mental framework. He only slightly adjusted his beliefs, to suit the new situation. If he didn't see the tatt until he was practically in the gutter, would some of the others? He did mention one or two who were liberal leaning. However, he didn't mention that any didn't believe their own lies.

It could have been, though, nevertheless. A gb who knew it was a scam would likely no have a conscience, as ray did. And so, he would go along so as to keep his position and his benefits secure. He would be a cinic.

Rutherford knew. I doubt russel did. Knorr knew that he wasn't that smart. He applied himself to the business part of the org. He left the theology to freddy.
