I am hooked. I want to buy a motorcycle!

I just got back from riding with a neighbor of mine. It was such an exhilarating feeling. The wind in your face. Man it felt so good.

Now the question is. What kind of motorcycle should I buy? I don't think I could handle one as big as his.

    Any suggestions?

    Aaaah the sweet memory.

Years ago in my dub days I had a Yamaha 400 Special.

Not too big and not too small.

What kind of bike does your neighbour have ?

I had to sell mine coz I rode it for 2 years without a licence. My conscience got the worse of me.

You know, I never asked him what kind his was but it is a big bike. He also has a chopper that he has had for 13 years.

I need something I can handle. I am only 5'5 and doubt I could handle one of the larger bikes. But I loved the feeling it gave me being in the open. I asked him if he would teach me how to drive one and he said he will. Doesn't seem to hard though since he said the gears were one down four up. Sounds similar to driving a standard.

I bet I would get out of the house a lot more if I owned one

Harley. They have the Ladies of Harley and lots to do as a club. Get a sportster 12000 with a lowering kit, and ride

hey hun. i'd say check out Harley Sportsters (XL models), they tend to be a lot lighter and easier to control. also, the frame of these models are much narrower and shorter than say Springer models, etc.

stay away from models like the Road King and Electra Glides, as they're designed for travelling long distances and some serious riding.
(sorry, i only know a lot about Harleys - plus, it's the only way to ride )

Well Lilacs, what motorcycle to buy is a very personal decision.
You'll probably get a lot of responses regarding this or that make and model, but in the end it all comes down to you. Maybe you have a friend or family member who you can talk to and who can lead you in the right direction.
Take any riding classes you can, you can never be too safe on a bike.
Above all, BE CAREFUL! It usually ain't the rider, it's the other guy.
Like I told a friend of mine why I quit riding (and also said this on another thread), somewhere out there some dumbass soccer mom is barrelling down the road in her SUV yakking on her cell phone and she'll never see you.
    Mike.

    whatever...

Thanks guys. I look into them.

Bea, my brother in law has a Harley low rider. Nic looking bike, but seems to be a hard one to handle also. I love the look of a Harley so that is most likely what I will buy if I can find one I like and be able to afford it. If not I can always borrow one from my neighbors sister in law. Debbie and I are thinking of buying one together to save on the cost.

"stay away from models like the Road King"

I know ladies that ride a RK. I own one too. They are low to the ground and the shield pops right off for intown riding......
