CLARIFICATIONS
ADJUSTMENTS

Let's not forget the "tacking into the wind" explanation from the December 1, 1981 Watchtower, page 27:
"At times explanations given by Jehovah's visible organization have shown adjustments, seemingly to previous points of view. But this has not actually been the case. This might be compared to what is known in navigational circles as 'tacking.' By maneuvering the sails, the sailors can cause a ship to go from right to left, back and forth, but all the time making progress toward their destination in spite of contrary winds."
(W 4-1-72, p197)
"So, does Jehovah have a prophet to help them, to warn them of dangers and to declare things to come?
"These questions can be answered in the affirmative.
"This prophet was not one man, but was a body of men and women. It was the small group of footstep followers of Jesus Christ, known at that time as International Bible Students. Today they are known as Jehovah's Christian witnesses. They are still proclaiming a warning, and have been joined and assisted in their commissioned work by hundreds of thousands of persons who have listened to their message with belief."
Soooo....the composite prophet was not even part of the FDS in the beginning! That explains it! The GB have been refining the earlier wrong expectations of the Bible Students, yeah, yeah.. that's it, that's the ticket! They are just now getting it straightened out! Now is not the time to lose faith in the Governing Body.
The real problem they face is that the Bible ( Duet 20-22 ) says that they ARE false prophets_______DOC
The funniest thing is, You wont' find Dueteronomy 18:21-22 anywhere under FALSE PROPHETS in the Reasoning book
And I checked the whole chapter . They stop at Duet 18:18-20
why ???? because the WTS knows it descibe THEM !!!!!!!!
Wasblind,
Sometimes what they omit is just as revealing as what they say! Good catch there. Why would the sole channel that God is using not devote a special chapter about all things concerning false prophets? Especially in the last days when false prophets would be working overtime to mislead the faithful?!
Ding,
"At times explanations given by Jehovah's visible organization have shown adjustments, seemingly to previous points of view. But this has not actually been the case.
How has this not been the case?
From http://www.jwfacts.com/watchtower/superior-authorities.php
Up to 1929 | 1929 to 1962 | 1962 onwards |
"Evil as these Gentile governmentshave been, they were permitted or "ordained of God" for a wise purpose. (Rom. 13:1)" Studies In the Scriptures Series I - The Divine Plan of the Ages p.250 | "The Superior Authorities are the Most High GodJehovah and his exalted Son Jesus Christ." This Means Everlasting Life(1950) p.197 | "The Expression "superior authorities" means the political governments or authorities." Life everlasting in Freedom of the Sons of God (1966) p.189 |
The understanding of the "Superior Authorities" is a teaching where the Watchtower doctrine has see-sawed back and forth in clear violation of the principle of the light getting lighter.
Hey DATA DOG,
Under FALSE PROPHETS in the Reasoning book all of the sub headings Talks of True prophets
they do all they can to avoid what the chapter is supposed to be about
1) "How can true prophets and false ones be indentified ?"
2) "True prophets speak in the name of God, but merely claiming to represent him is not enough "
3) " Ability to perform " great signs " or " miracles " is not necessary proof of a true prophet "
4) " What true prophets foretell comes to pass, but they may not understand just when or how it will be "
5) " The pronouncement of a true prophet promote true worship and are in harmony with God's revealed will "
6) " True prophets and the false can be recognized by the fruitage manifest in their lives and the lives of those who follow "
The WTS sell themselves as true prohets in this chapter
.
I think the problem is that they try to have it both ways...
... The GB alone understands the deep things of God
... The GB alone has been chosen to speak for Jehovah
... The GB condemns all other religious organizations because they don't have the truth
... The GB demands that JWs order their lives around everything the GB teaches
... But the GB are just fallible men who have mistaken expectations so it's unfair to hold them accountable for their pronouncements...
If the GB has been hand selected by Jehovah - there shouldn't be any questions at all if they are in the Truth - not one of those noted accounts have solid scripture to support it. and if they were selected then by all means they should be held accountable for what they say.
Matthew 12:36-37-- 36 “But I tell you that every careless word that people speak, they shall give an accounting for it in the day of judgment.37 “For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.”
Didn't Jesus example God "Jehovah" his Father He only did what He saw the Father do and Said what the Father said? Hebrews 13: 7 Remember those who led you, who spoke the word of God to you; and considering the result of their conduct, imitate their faith.8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.9 Do not be carried away by varied and strange teachings; for it is good for the heart to be strengthened by grace, not by foods, through which those who were so occupied were not benefited. - why would there be any changes? Gods not a liar -- Numbers 23: God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: has he said, and shall he not do it? or has he spoken, and shall he not make it good? xcross ref 2 Timothy 2:13 if we are faithless, he will remain faithful, for he cannot disown himself.
Hebrews 6:18 God did this so that, by two unchangeable things in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have fled to take hold of the hope offered to us may be greatly encouraged.
Here's even a better one - thanks God :)
2 Peter 1:20
Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.
2 Peter 1:19-21 (in Context) 2 Peter 1 (Whole Chapter) Other Translations
looks like God is pretty clear on this one
Ding, thank you for bringing the tacky "Tacking" illustration up again. I wrote to the "brooklyn truth dodgers" (c) at that time: think about it
Why does the crew have to tack? because it is sailing AGAINST the wind (pneuma) the ships destination is contrary to the prevailing wind.translation: because the goal of the org is contrary to the natural reality, it is fighting to go ahead, has to tack. sailing vessels are actually able to go faster than the wind, but thats sport. if you want to succeed, find out what the maker of the wind (if any) intends. why the wind blows thata way.
