So then their use of the term "expectation" is actually a big lie, because it was not merely an expectation, it was a PREDICTION. They generally did not say "we expect this to happen" (except maybe with the 1925 stuff, "we may reasonably expect..."), they said "it will happen". Even going so far as to say that God would make sure that it happened! (May 15th, 1984 WT p. 6-7)

It's just a word game they like to play, and unfortunately too many are being fooled by it.

A woman who is "expecting" her baby based on her own diagnosis of symptoms can be disappointed because she didn't verify and confirm her wrong expectation by going to an actual doctor.

But a woman whose pregnancy HAD BEEN CONFIRMED by an actual doctor could SUE for malpractice if that confirmed pregnancy turned out to be an illusory hysterical pregnancy!

As the massage therapist once said, "Here's the rub!"

Being the Faithful and Discreet Slave (the only true channel of communication) directly guided by Jehovah through His spirit.....there is no reason for the mouthpiece of God to do anything

but tell it like it is. Expectation implies promise of delivery of the thing desired. The only way expectation could be wrong is if the source of the promise was also wrong.

So, the blame must go to Jehovah.....were we to buy this "explanation."

The WTS. has been saying that mankind is living in the last days of this system of things for more than a century.

Telling the public that millions now living will never die, pursuing higher education is pointless because of this occurring statement.

The organization main marketing strategy has revolved around this long standing enduring proclamation intensionally endeavored

to proliferate the organization's literature. These were more than simplified expectations upon a probable future occurrence.

Interesting that this religious organization created so many lies in attracting attention to themselves and now they are lying about what they

actually said and did in the past.

The WTS. covers themselves with a coat of Teflon to make sure nothing can stick themselves as time moves along, corruption

in the realm of religious freedom you might say.

They forget that they are in control of a publishing company that proclaims these dates to the public. They make these proclamations with the intent of gaining followers. A prophet is not someone who keeps things to himself, he makes them know as widely as he can. The WTBTS are more than just a watchman, who reports on what is seen. They are religious leaders and therefore false prophets.

In the book Man’s Salvation Out of World Distress At Hand (WTBTS 1975) ,

    page 48

“In the face of the relatively small proportion of the world’s population that has put faith in the “thing heard [from] us” or proclaimed by us, it can truthfully be said: “They did not all obey the good news.” This explains the saddening state of a the world of mankind today.

    I think this included this,

The Nations Shall Know That I Am Jehovah" - How" p216 (released 1971)

9 Shortly, within our twentieth century, the “battle in the day of Jehovah” will begin against the modern antitype of Jerusalem, Christendom.

as part of the good news message which also had a judgement message accompanying it.

The generation that saw the 1914 was supposed to see the end. It was proclaimed in the Awake as God's promise. I read the first quote as applying Romans 10 and having faith in it.

I think Romans 10 is talking about having faith in the Good News that was preached by the Apostle's and it's faith in that which is important. Having faith in some other good news could be a problem.

    Maybe i'm wrong.

This statement in my post i felt needed to be clarified, "It was proclaimed in the Awake as God's promise." by posting the actual quote.

    November 8th 1995 Awake.

"Most important, this magazine builds confidence in the Creator's promise of a peaceful and secure new world before the generation that saw the events of 1914 passes away."

That one sentence tells it all !

The WTS. is trying to wash themselves off is all of their false teachings/proclamations.

    Why now ?

Because they still want to retain their so called spiritual attachment connecting them to god, so now they are forced to lie about their past.

The other unexpectedly thing to happened is that since the inter-net has appeared in just about every modernized country,

those false proclamations and teachings are being readily exposed.

In the past the WTS. would carefully instruct certain publications be taken off the shelves at the Kingdom Halls and

state that those publications should not be distributed or read.

I'd like to add - even if it was 'wrong expectation', the WT's VERY LONG list of "wrong expectations" shows them to be at best, a very poor interpreter of Scripture!!

I told 2 JW ladies last week, that i was once tricked by a guy named Hal Lindsey. He wrote a best-seller called " The Late Great Planet Earth", and said the end would be in the '80's, based on his understanding of the term "This generation", its length combined with his chosen starting point. Seeing as he was completely wrong on this, i no longer read any of his books, or listen to anything he says. -- I just kind of left it there for now, for them to make an application if they so chose.

... ask a JW about this one, they will justify it with the light getting brighter

using the same publication, a couple of paragraphs later, ask them why they haven't adjusted this one yet since the light has gotten very bright over the years on this subject

*** kj chap. 12 p. 218 par. 14 "Until He Comes Who Has the Legal Right" ***
After Jehovah's "sword" did bring about the destruction of Jerusalem and the utter desolation of the "soil of Israel" in the year 607 B.C.E., the bitter "report" did come, even as far as to the Jewish exiles in Babylon.
