Between 1985/2001, only 200???? died.

How can this make sense to any one? And these guys/gals are getting older by the year--shouldn't they be dying off faster?

My prediction--

The society will continue to use figures right around the 8700 mark because GOD forbid the numbers start dropping rapidly, the brothers and sisters will think the end is tomorrow. Of course, after years of brainwashing of being told that the "Generation of 1914 would not pass away."

Those are the brothers/sisters who didn't study the WT in 1995! they don't know about the Generation change!

The WBTS is hedging her bets.

Lisa makes an excellent point - they've painted themselfs into a corner, so to speak - they know the number of the select should not increase, but they also can't crank up the Soylent Green digesters at the WT Farm because if the number of annointed approaches ZERO it suggests that somebody BIG has missed an appointment.

So should we expect the number to ramain relatively flat at 8 to 9 thousand every year, world-without-end-amen?

Nathan, sometimes I think the Borg uses these GOOFY PREDICTIONS as a "litmus-test" to test their brain-washing levels, if the rank & file dubs buy it, well the program is working.

I would think the Society is fairly honest with their statistics, but the years 1996, 1998 and 1999 seem to be unusual decreasing only by one partaker each year. The odds seem rather unlikely with an organization this size.
