thats all fine and dandy, but that won't produce new money for the new war..

What kind of money are you talking about? Debt based money or real assets? An asset grab and the elimination of a significant rival could be presented as rational American objectives in such a conflict. Totally insane if it results in world war and inevitable misery for many across the planet of course, but it could be presented as a rational policy option.

Well, I watched a news station at the beginning of the year and their political gurus predicted a conlict between China & Japan over just this idea.

"You are going to hear of wars and reports of wars; see that you are not terrified. For these things must take place..." (Matt 24:6)

World War I was mainly driven by national egomania, supported by an also national minded economy.

Politics today is mainly driven by economy, which nowadays is global. Even the Chinese know (better maybe than everyone else), that you need a global market for economic prosperity.

If there is a spot, where the world could be brought to the edge of a global war, than it's the middle east.

Another thing to be worried about is Pakistan. They possess atomic bombs and are political very unstable. If islamic extremists take over there, we will have some sleepless nights for sure.

Better to have the war now, than to wait 10 years when China has some real military armament-

One rumor is that Japan was secretly making plutonium for an atomic bomb at Fukushima-

I don't doubt there are idiots in Washington saying exactly the same thing! Scary.

Japan is utterly dependent on the sea lanes for the import and export of products. And those sea lanes are controlled by the United States. The United States controls the oceans, and its view is that that is the foundation of its national security. As Japan and Turkey become greater maritime powers, the United States will become hostile toward them. Japan and Turkey each wants to be a maritime power and each sees the U.S. as a threat. Poland has no interest in being a maritime power. It’s afraid of Turkey, and interested in the U.S. There’s a natural coalition. To be honest I'd always assumed another one was inevitable; it was just a matter of exactly who the major players on the board would be. Things are being squeezed too tightly in the world and something big is bound to happen. There are still two sides of a sort in terms of the way nations are divided in the world today. We know, more or less, who would throw their hat in the ring with who when the guns are drawn.

Of course, I was in an apocalyptic cult for 20+ years, so...of course I'd be pessimistic.
