just scanned the link pick up this wonderful quote: "education teaches you how to think, propaganda tells you what to think," truly the duds are really brain dead, because if the org. doesn't tell one what to think then there isn't anything that tells one what to think.

Hell, you can't even answer a question in your own words with out it being reiderated back into the society's jargon.

    oh well, what me worry!

Yes, they really know how to use propaganda with all the dub who believe everything they say. This is pathetic to see that all the jw-dub have everything they need to free their mind from mind-control although they will never use it.

We become more attuned to the human condition when we recognize that God is not going to fix our problems.

And if you were to sit with a JW and together read this official, current, new light (because it says to use your intelligence, gather all related info, check sources, etc) then offered some old WT literature, with quote back up or whatever. Do you think they would read it then? If they did, which would they call propaganda.

    Curious.

THERE is a difference—a big difference—between education and propaganda. Education shows you how to think. Propaganda tells you what to think.

... Yet there are some who point out that the organization has had to make adjustments before, and so they argue: "This shows that we have to make up our own mind on what to believe." This is independent thinking. Why is it so dangerous? 20 Such thinking is an evidence of pride.

    More Gems:
Let's dress them up a little and we can see who you can substitute WT right into these quotes and you would not know the difference based on thier actions

    #########3

    Lies, Lies!

Certainly, the handiest trick of the propagandist is the use of outright lies.

    example:
"Before the generation of 1914 God himself has promised and we know god can't lie that the world will end before these old folks die off the earth" so we know it's 1994 the time IS SHORT!!

    YEA RIGHT

    ##################################

. They are venomous, bitter, vindictive, tricky serpents, assassins, and children of the devil who sting and work harm."

    Example:
thier description of apostates according to thier definition-

WERE THE above words quotes from the WT in ref to those they call "Apoststes" nope BUT I BET YOU COULDN'T TELL COULD YA-- smile
    ########################

    Name-Calling

Some people insult those who disagree with them by questioning character or motives instead of focusing on the facts.

    Example:

Now the above describes the jw mindset so well- most jw care very little about facts- jw say that any true religion would have nothing to do with the UN-- wt is caught in bed with UN- you show a jw and what is his or her response SO WHAT!!!!!!

yep facts mean mean nothing to them
    ###############

Name-calling slaps a negative, easy-to-remember label onto a person, a group, or an idea. The name-caller hopes that the label will stick. If people reject the person or the idea on the basis of the negative label instead of weighing the evidence for themselves, the name-caller's strategy has worked.

Yes the above is can correctly be applied to the wt and it's members
    #############

"then by character assassination, isolation and economic destruction."

"The Institute for Propaganda Analysis notes that:

"bad names have played a tremendously powerful role in the history of the "WT" They have ruined reputations, . . . sent [people] to prison cells, and made men mad enough to enter battle and slaughter their fellowmen "mentally speaking as it were"

    Example :

when you leave they have you rumored to be involved in drugs sex and rock and roll
    #######

    Playing on the Emotions

Even though feelings might be irrelevant when it comes to factual claims or the logic of an argument, they play a crucial role in persuasion. Emotional appeals are fabricated by practiced publicists, who play on feelings as skillfully as a virtuoso plays the piano.

For example, fear is an emotion that can becloud judgment.

    Example:

the fear of god destroying them for READING OLD MAGS THAT DOG THE WT for it's flipflop teachings

yes wt uses these tools to keep the minds of it's members shut

as i tell nonjw all the time

the mere fact that ANY JW CAUGHT HERE :

    1. READING
    2, POSTING
    3. ENGAGING IN ANY DIALOG

COULD AND WOULD BE DFed if caught and they refused to admit that they were violating the directions of God thru his mouthpc

NONJW can't beleive that a religion if they catch it's members on chat forum that discusses their relgion would be kicked out

when you break it down so that NONJW can understand that even the jw who do post here live IN FEAR OF BEING CAUGHT
    by the church.

as one guy here at work put it, Sorta like a Armish dude getting caught with a Chain Saw or Lawn Mower

i tell you folks when you talk to nonjw like i do and you let them know these basic HUMAN RIGHTS to surf the net on sites like this
are denied to the wt member--

they really begin to understand the wt is indeed a high control and cultic group

Using propaganda to express their anti-propaganda material. Is this an oxymoron?

If I was presented with the choice of:
    A) Believe the tripe coming from the Governing Body and writers of the WTBTS.
    or
    B)Ride a rollercoaster

    I'd choose "B".

A rollercoaster is cheaper, entertaining, and much more reliable. And should you have a strong stomach, the rollercoaster presents the hope of ending at some point.
