The WTS. grew out of cunning commercialization of religious literature by creating attractive doctrines of their own and some borrowed from others.
There is a money business perspective that gets a bit missed by many who aren't analytically looked for it within the WTS. operations.
Russell knew beforehand that he needed something more and presumingly valid in attracting attention to his books and magazines as they
were being presented door to door to the public. He thought he had what was needed as the return of Christ, a new dispositional era for mankind.
A great world wide tribulation, ending up finally in Armageddon ( judgment day ) .
His found ideology of Pyramidology was something else he also thought held valuable merit, which he put into his books and magazines.
Of course these today are deemed nothing but laughable nonsense by laymen and bible theologians alike.
But at the time which they were presented at the turn of the 20th century, they probably were successful in attracting attention from the publics eye.
Rutherford witnessed how this publishing house (machine) worked and most likely new of its containing wealth that Russell had put
into it, it became his personal endeavor to place himself at the helm so to speak and drive it on his own, which he did.
Rutherford was once a door to door encyclopedia salesman before he became a lawyer, so he had already acquired a sense how to sell books
to the public.

By the way if you zoom in the fine print after the date of the talk you'll see just how cunning Rutherford was in his words and grammar.
You could say in a sense he was theologically stupid but business minded smart in running the WTS.

You could really look at the WTS. and alike in investigating religious charlatanism in American and come up with some interesting statistics.
The total amount of money earned by these institutions would shockingly alarm most I'm sure.
The lifestyles of the rich and famous could focus easily on religious charlatans.
For example the WTS. owns over a billion dollars in real-estate all over the world and has hundreds of millions stashed in bank accounts collecting
interest as well. A staggering amount that the majority of JWS know nothing about and that too is intently on purpose.
