I work with dogs every day.

Working with dogs every day no more qualifies you to talk about evolution that using Excel qualifies you to talk about information management systems.

What qualifies you? How many dogs have you bred? How many breeding programs have you looked at?

The thread has got nothing to do with dog breeding.

It's about genetics and the evolution of enzymes that enabled wolves to metabolise carbs and benefit from scavaging around human settlements.

Oh, that's right, breeding has nothing to do with genetics, does it?

Not that prevarication of the issue is relevant, but actually take the time to study, take classes on and learn actual science on the matter. Breeding programs is in no way a qualification to discuss genetics and evolution.

Absolutely it does. Being in a breeding program in no way qualifies you, however, to discuss genetics.

It's an error of false equivalency.

It is true that the early studies in selective breeding, such as the work of Gregor Mendel, led to ideas about evolution, it does not follow that evolution is a product of selective (directed) breeding.

Carbohydrate metabolism in dogs could have developed over many generations of living near humans, and not be directed at all. Dogs that couldn't digest and metabolize carbs probably wouldn't have multiplied as well as those that did.

Funny how you didn't answer my question.

    I didn't? Interesting.

DD I have asked you 5 times on which books on evolution you have read. Still no answer.

It sounds as if you are going out your way to misunderstand everything I write. Surely not.
