NEW STUDY AT THE KINGDOM HALL. ADVICE NEEDED.

As the title suggests, there is a young man studying the Bible Teach book and attending meetings. At every meeting that he has attended, there have been some really cultish comments. Of course I hear them loud and clear now, and for years then were coming through, that is why I woke up.

Anyway, at the meeting I was sitting there, hating it, listening to all the emotion comments from the audience. Listening to the interpretations of the Jeremiah book touted as fact. Listening to the phrase " SLAVE " repeated over and over, and wanting to just be dead, seriously...

So I have been thinking about this new guy. I am wondering if I should sneak something in his car about TTATT. I feel horrible thinking about it. I know that JW's do not have a monopoly on truth. They don't know any more than any other organized religion. Some people do get help, and change their lives for the better.

So what is my responsibility here? If you believe in God do you think it is my call? Should I stay out of it? I will be taking a huge risk if I do anything, but that doesn't bother me. I just wonder if it is my place to do anything. Even you personally do not believe in a creator, what do you think? I know there are many sharp individuals here, regardless of personal beliefs, and I will consider any advice given.

Well, if the opportunity comes up in conversation then I think you should, however I personally wouldn't force the issue. Maybe you could say, "make sure of all things" and really harp on studying things objectively.

I'd be subtle, but talk to the new study directly. Finding an anonymous booklet is just creepy.

Reinforcing the new study's intelligence and independence is good. You might say, "I know you will be sure of all things before you commit." or "It is worthwhile to study for yourself as the Bereans did."

I don't believe in god but I certainly DON'T believe anyone should be a WBT$ slave.

Tread carefully. He might be so hyped on it that he'll dob you in to the eldubs.

Ask him a question maybe? One that'll provoke thought. Ask him what interests him and take it from there? Maybe show him something you found of interest in the reasoning(TM) book that is still old light?

I would contemplate to try to leave the "Pamphlet" printout on jwfacts.com in his car. or, if you can get his address,,maybe on "whitepages.com" and send anonymously.

Gayle, that is an awesome idea. Using others who are out and have nothing to lose to communicate or set up an encounter is an excellent approach. Of course selling the encounter as a random coincidence might not always come across as geniune.

Remember, what ever you decide to do, his JW supporters will use it to "pröve" they have the Truth. They may have even forewarned him already that there will be "opposers" who will try to turn him away from the Truth.

I can never forget one of the first chapters in the little blue book from the late 1960s "The Truth that Leads to Eternal Life" that told newcomers to expect opposition from their non-JW friends and family because Jesus had said his followers would be persecuted.

Proceed with care in your approach - and try not to use any deception if you must approach him at all. The idea of using a person unknown to him to post on his Facebook seems just a little on the sneaky side - and could put him off.

If he is going through the Bible Teach book then it is perfect. Pick out the bait and switch items in there, like baptism, and ask him what he thinks of that teaching. Then show him the switched teaching and ask him why would they have the first teaching, but the second one is different after he gets baptized. Let him ponder those questions.

as a believer i would says romans 10:9-17 and romans 1:16 should give you the answer.
