There were times when I was a JW that I asked myself :

'What constitustes actual WORSHIP at the meetings?'

It got to a point where the only worship I could see was a sycophantic arse licking of the governing body.

I found nothing at the meetings(TM) were actually anything like worshipping god.

Unless salesmanship 101 at the service meeting is considered worship

hoser - Agreed. This was my conclusion. How to get money and power for the GB rather than worship god.

When I asked where the worship at the meetings was during my awakening and exit i was told that the song and prayer constituted the worship....

Worship has so many different connotations and each religion seems to practice or view it differently.

JWs don't fall down or bow towards an image as an act of worship as the bible depicts but practice it as a lifestyle choice.

I remember when the prayers & comments praising the Governing Body first started happening. It was very weird to hear at first, but then it started happening so much that it got sickening.

"Oh Jehovah.....thank you for the Governing Body, blah blah blah...."

WMF - Yes. A very minute part of the meeting(TM) was almost worship. The prayers seemed to praise the GB more often than not.

Amelia - JWs have the watchtower(R) logo to worship.

TAI - So it wasn't just me then. 'Thank the faithful slave.....' I got sick of it. I remember seeing a picture of Twat Splane and it made me nauseous. He looked so pervy.

When I told my parents on my fade journey that I do not recall one act of worship all the 40 years I went to the meetings at the KH.........they thought & had to agree.

Acts of worship do not take place during the meetings it is more like cramming knowledge to pass the final Armageddon exam. That is not WORSHIP.

    Thanks for posting this Punk.

This is a point I keep thinking myself.

Worship from Wikipedia: "Worship is an act of religious devotion usually directed towards a deity. The word is derived from the Old English worthscipe, meaning worthiness or worth-ship — to give, at its simplest, worth to something.[1]".

And from merriam-webster.com: "reverence offered a divine being or supernatural power"

I don't see none of that at the meeting. Just teaching, teaching and teaching how to behave, what to do and what not to do. Prayers are full of words towards the WT/FDS/GB. "Thanks for the GB", WTF is that?? How about Jesus??

Also, the prayers that the brothers offer are in no way a worship to Jehovah. See, that it suppose to be a moment of bond with the Creator, but if you start to actually pay attention to what they pray about, is the freaking same thing over and over again, just with different word.

    That's a cult-worship-meeting going on in WTland.

HoaB - That's why churches are better. Not that I believe in god anymore but at least they worship at the church.

Pixel - No worries cobber. Thanks for the refs. I wonder if there are quotes in the literal-trash that say the meetings(TM) ARE worship............hmmmmm. Quotes anyone?
