So as you all know, I have fully faded...I'm completely out and have not told the elders or DA myself...just faded 100%...

So I run into an active JW, different congregation, and as I walk past him I say, "Hey so and so, how are you doing?"....he looks down, doesnt dare look at me in the eyeball and keeps walking...then a split second later he turns around and says, hey man, aren't yuo disfellowshipped?...

I was like WTF?...lol, I said "not that I know of"...I asked him who told him such thing?...he wouldnt tell me who, but he had "heard"...so I just left it at that and told him if he wants to know then to contact my ex-elders...

My thing is, could the elders have DF'ed me without me knowing it?...I have NOT been accused of their so called "apostasy", nor have I received a letter requesting info or to set up a meeting, nor a call...the coordinating elder (formally president/presiding overseer) still texts me all the time saying hi etc...no religious texts or anything like that)

any past experience from you guys?

In my experience, they can do anything they want. I told them I couldn't make it to the meeting they set for me and they went ahead and DF'd me anyway. I still don't know on exactly what grounds. At the time, they had no just cause.I was planning to DA anyway, so I got what I wanted either way.

For all you know they "tried" to contact you and couldn't. You could always pretend to be an elder from elsewhere & call if you are curious. I'm debating on doing that myself.

Hey, even if you weren't, it sounds like the congregation DF'd you in absentia. Rumor mills will do that, don't you know.

There is no such thing as '100% fully faded.'

You may not have family and some friends bugging you but word gets around and in most JWs eyes (and thanks to a WT from last yr cant remember which) they view and treat those who do not REGULARLY ATTEND MEETINGS as DFd!

Its not something thats spelled out but its something properly conditioned Dubs know. Just like they KNOW not to attend a funneral in a church even tho its spose to be a personal decision.

In one of the talks our last CO gave, he commented that we shouldn't have any contact with people who managed to "get around the system" without getting disfellowshipped, but are doing things that would be considered gross sins (EDIT i.e. faders leading "immoral" lives).

Also I couldn't agree more on the rumour mill...One of my closest friends is a "faded" JW who moved here from another area. It amazes me how the majority of his former JW friends never keep in touch with him (we're talking about years) except when a rumour started going around that he was disfellowshipped - suddenly his phone was ringing off the hook with so called friends trying to find out if it was true (but wanting the juicy goss).

I'm a fader too. I even run an atheist page on Facebook... and as far as I know, I'm not DFed. But I moved around a lot, so I'm not sure.
Not that it matters... there are more that still stick with me than I expected. Still JWs, but not ready to shun me apparently. In fact, I get asked about my conversion... which is rather nice. The others can shun me all they want, pfff! I find them pathetic.

I doubt they " officially" disfellowshipped you, but once you stop going they treat you as if you are

I wonder if my dub mother will still talk to me if or when she hears this. I've committed the gross sin of putting up a Christmas tree and giving gifts to my children on Christmas day. She saw the tree, so she knows I'm a gross sinner leading an immoral life.
