Hi Logical. I realize who the Bible says will do the judging. I was trying to show DFshipped that. He said that Jehovah judges. I was showing him that is not what the Bible says. Jesus also said in Matthew 28:18 that all authority in heaven and on earth was given to him by Jehovah, after he was resurrected. I was never taught the same good news that the Bible teaches when I was a JW. I was taught a different "good news". And I also was taught that Jehovah will judge us someday. That just isn't true if you read the Bible. It's very clear who will be doing the judging.

    till next time,

    Hi all,

This is my first time visiting this site as well as posting anything. It's very interesting to see everyone's different viewpoints.
I guess I should begin by telling a little bit about myself. I was born and raised Jehovah's Witness. Served as a Regular Pioneer in both the Silverlake Congregation in Loveland, CO as well as the Layton Congregation in Layton, Utah for a total of 4 years. I was DF'd around 3 years ago. Those are my statistics... I'm not going to go into detail about my life as a Jehovah's Witness or my personal experience at this time... perhaps when I have more time to write it all out... and feel like boring you all. :)
To tell you the truth, I don't know why I'm responding. Perhaps it's for my own "Therapy". I know that I have a lot of pent up feelings and frustration with my past... not that it was a bad past... just that I have a lot of emotional baggage. Leaving the religion was one of the most difficult (Despite the popular belief in the religion that I took the easy route) thing I ever did. But perhaps one of the most amazing, and rewarding choices I have ever made. To this day, I have never regretted any decision I have made, and I have never felt guilty for making the decision to walk my path alone.
Anyways, I wanted to bring out something that I thought was interesting... A couple of you have quoted different scriptures and have spoken about the what the bible tells us we should be doing, etc. And actually that is one of the major beliefs of the religion is following the bible's principles for everything in our lives. The thing that I had a problem with is where does your heart come into all of this? I mean... the problem I ran into was that here we are given this heart, that serves as our intuition for the things we come across... and even according to the bible, we are to serve God with our whole "HEART" and yet, when it really comes down to it... that is the last thing people rely on when making these huge decisions in their lives. It's sad... because we give so much power to religions, and other people, and everything in this world that we forget who we are. We don't remember that we are each individuals with the gift of free will to experience this life as we wish... and yet... instead of using that gift they pass up on it.
Anyways, don't have much time today... but for you DFshipped... I wish you the best. That is awesome that you are choosing your path and believe so strongly in it. If you truly feel that you belong there then don't let anyone try to sway you from your decision. To the rest of you, hope to talk to you all again soon. Nice to meet you.

Welcome, welcome. Hope you stay around for a long time and tell us more about yourself.

I've been 'out' for 30 years, but have never had an experience like this forum before, so it's a form of therapy for me also - I best describe it as
bitter/sweet! Sharing with, and learning of the others' experiences and feelings has been a real eye-opener for me...think you will find it to be true for you too.

    Loved your post. Zazu

    Hey Gwen,

We have a Hello? Hello? thread started by Prisca in the Sex Forum. I don't know why.....guess she just felt that particular room was under used. Go figure. Women never waste space, do they? Btw, I'm a woman also.

I've been a jw for 30 yrs, inactive for almost a year. In fact, with no wrong doing, etc., our elders decided to visit us on Christmas Day, (we were working) to ask if we wanted to da ourselves. We said no - family still in org.

Welcome to our area. Please come on in and join. Is rather like therapy - only free.

    Hi Gwen!

Welcome to the group!! I too was raised as a JW. Was never a regular pioneer, but aux. pioneered off and on. I haven't formally DA myself yet, but have no plans on returning to the religion that follows the whims of a few select men that sit in an office in Brooklyn. There are some great folks here in this forum and I love coming here to chat and share thoughts.

    Again, welcome!

    CurleyQT,
I too posted here for therapy. I wanted to exit this religion with no baggage. Seven weeks later the baggage is gone. Thanks, group. No, what I really mean is "Thanks, my new friends".
One can't follow their heart when they are trying to follow rules established by men. It's wonderful to actually be able to use my instincts again. Finally!,I feel spiritual rather than just obedient, it's been a while.
Welcome, you've found a great place.

Thanks for the welcome... Perhaps one day I will have an opportunity to share "MY STORY" with all of you. Unfortunately, I haven't had a moment of time to even sit down long enough to think about it. I noticed that there are people of all types of backgrounds in here... some in the congregation still and others who have moved on. It's interesting to see such a diverse group. It's neat to see as well, perhaps there are some people out there that are seeing through the dogma and black and white of religion and realizing that the "Truth" they are working towards is found within themselves and within the people that they interact with and share this beautiful experience called life with. It's very exciting!!! :) HI EVERYONE! ;)

    Love,
    Gwen
