"The science that says the earth is 4.5 billion years old is psuedoscience."

Your credentials are??? Your years of study in geology are????? The university where you got your advanced degree is???? How many years of research?? Any awards, Nobel Prize maybe???

Quite interesting. or rather depressing, to see how people side with the "faith" method which stagnated human knowledge for almost 2,000 years and still have the chutzpa to attack the scientific method, which in a very short time has given us airplanes, cars, computers, spaceships, knowledge about the universe and the earth, cell phones, life saving drugs, longer lives, GPS, etc, etc, etc, etc. Then, if not science, what do we owe to the Bible? Morals? I doubt it, Asian religions/cultures develop strong moral values without the help of the "Holly Book".

I'd say if anyone could actually PROVE that evolution was not true...like find one provable example. THEY would get the Nobel prize for sure. Hasn't been done. Everything that has been discovered, and is still being discovered, consistently proves evolution is a fact. The evidence just keeps stacking up in its favour. Nothing has disproven it.

***It must be nice in your science fiction fantasy world Tammy. Please keep this sort of nonsense off science threads.... Back on topic...******

    Science thread !?!?

Then This thread is in a wrong category !

This category is "Watchtower Society, Beliefs, Doctrines and Practices " ....how is this consistant with your rude and demeaning "nonsense off topic comment reply" ?......rules are rules for ALL right, not SOME ? This category is hijacked by a science thread !

Be consistant, in ALL context !

Pterist - Unstop chose this board for his thread.

Creationism is a Watchtower doctrine - some of us got over it others didn't.

I wasn't being rude I was stating a fact that Tammy was preaching her Star Trek nonsense on a thread that is for discussing the merits of a science book.

Please stop being pedantic it adds nothing to the discussion.

*** Creationism is a Watchtower doctrine****

Well if you agree that creationism is part of the category then it also has a voice to be heard in that category.

When do your opinions that demean people become facts.?

How will this topic help JWs leaveing the org., since they strongly believe in God, and your atheism is the furthest thing from their mind !

This site should have a specific category for atheists and their topics.

What would you rather they read? More myths and fairy tales?

I came to JWN a believer and it was my wanting to debate threads like this that encouraged me to objectively examine evolutionary biology, so that I could defend my belief system. Within weeks I realised I was wrong.

    Who is the Amazing Randy?

How did you conclude that mainstream scientists are charlatans?

Your version of reality is upside-down.

*** What would you rather they read? More myths and fairy tales?***

That's your opinion, and you are entitled to it, and yes that is the whole point, JWs can have access to ALL points of view.

Case in point, Cofty justifies this topic being in "Watchtower Society, Beliefs, Doctrines and Practices " based on *** Creationism is a Watchtower doctrine**** but insists that there should be no comments at all on creationism !!! Get the contradiction ?

The science that allows me to send data over the internet and use a gps is real science. The science that says the earth is 4.5 billion years old is psuedoscience.

It's the same science. The EXACT same science. You simply don't understand it.

One example is Mt. St Helens we know it errupted in 1980 and that is the date of the lava, but when sent to be dated at the labratory it comes back dated 2.8 million years old.

Yep. I am well aware of that. The lab the samples were sent it to was specifically and only designed to test the ages of things 2+ million years old. Anything not at least that old and their results would be in error, unless, of course, you have another example you want to cite?

As an analogy, you might as well say weighing things doesn't work because the scale at the gym didn't move when you put a feather on it. You would be wrong in both your choice of tool as well as the analysis.
