Well I definately feel that the Sparlock, and Forbiding Masturbation for the deaf with all those hand gestures videos going viral on the internet has made them more cautious about what they put in these productions.
And the point of this video is??

it's open ended so you can use your own judgement when criticising others on their cellphone use...

Since the Big A didn't happen "in our 20th century" as expected, I guess the WTS figures that they might as well appear to join the 21st century's way of lifeācell phones and all.

Well at least they are not being so radical click them both at the same time:

I see both videos having a similar purpose namely to control the sex lives of its members, 1st one tells about sending messages that could lead to romance between young adults a no no for witness youth, and the 2nd one about not releiving your self from sexual tension thru masturbation.
It's all about controlling the sex life of members.

It's a nice little spiritual charm offensive that says everything and yet says nothing but still leaves a whiff that it's frowning with a caring attitude about something others would think was completely normal.
It wants to emphasize at the same time that witnesses are not only the happiest people in the world - they are also the most balanced and reasonable. No seriously...they are.

You don't need a cell phone, it will just compel you to use to speak sweet amorous things to the opposite sex
and you might even do it during the meetings.

This video has a real Mormon flavour. They are trying to project the image that Mormons, I mean JWs, are normal, well adjusted, young adults who have a spiritual view of mobile phones and sexting.... sounds stupid? It is.
The music sounded like it was out of Napoleon Dynamite.... Wasn't that movie made by Mormons?

I'm thinking that they are getting a lot of Judicial Committe meeting where young people are committing fornication and the common denominator is text messaging so these old foggies on the Govewrning Body are trying to stem the tide by making this video on not text messaging the opposite sex with expression of romantic nature.
You have to remember these guys on the Governing Body are a bunch of sick puppies they don't want teenagers dating and getting laid. Appearently they noticed a trend by all the reports from COs visiting the various congregation about young people useing cell phones to hook up and do what teenagers do, and they want to stop it.
I think this could be as reasonable a senerio as any. I mean if they would stoop so low as to have a special video made for the deaf about the evils of masturbation and making them feel guilty about it something as normal as that to relieve sexual tension and god forbid even enjoy, then that most likely is the motive behind this video about text messaging the opposite sex. These guys are real prudes.

2 + 2= 5 your post says it all: Increasingly the JW literature and electronic communications have the squeaky-clean, buttoned-down sanitized appealing aura of Mormon literature. The steady, rhythmic light elevator music in the background as these kids speak from the (controlled) heart is a million miles away from the thundering, explosive Watchtower message of the 1920s and 30s. This is another age and another time and, if the end is coming soon, you could be forgiven for thinking, "What's that?"
JWs - yesterday's 7th-Day Adventist clones have now become Mormon clones: Ball-less and sickly sweet.

When a JW says to me 'I miss you' it stirs emotions in me!
Definitely a pointless video......
