Alot of the elders C.O's ect of today were not even around pre 75.
I was and clearly remember the talks at the KH and assemblys ect.
The WTS is at best "Date shy" these days never putting dates on anything....i guess they have been wrong so many times.

Old time JWs that I have talked to lately have simply forgotten the promises of the pre-1975 era.
I just had one promise to look up the Feb 22, 1961 Awake! issue and I await their comment without any expectation that, even if they do read it as they promised, they will ever mention it or speak to me again.

The Dubs present had the same expections that they would have had pre-1975. They have invested so much of their lives and reputations into the WT's promises that to admit they have been scammed is their worst nightmare. The number of people that they have recruited over the decades must be in the hundreds, at least, and includes the church's hierarchy.
It seems as though the mantra "The End is sooooo close " is affecting all who are still in, and the failure of that same mantra/promise in the past is forgotten.
Many old-timers mention frequently that they did not expect to still be in this System at their age, but they must comfort themselves with the thought that "we must be even closer now than XX number of years ago".
So sad, to waste ones life waiting for the 'bus to paradise, when there is no 'bus, no paradise, and the 'bus stop is an illusion put there by the Corporation selling the whole idea, just so you keep donating to them.
