  I have been skimming the magazine this morning, and the whole issue seems designed to keep the flock at the KH. Yes, I know this is not exactly " new " information. Still with all the problems the Organization is having, this one just seemed to strike me as odd. Especially knowing that they are written well in advance, and specifically worded to accomplish the GB's and Lawyers' agenda.

  Much of it is the same ol' crud. A few things stood out. Here is one that I found odd, it just did not flow. It was a bad tasting dish at the " spiritual banquet " prepared by the slave.. LOL!!

  BE COURAGEOUS, JEHOVAH IS WITH YOU! PAGE 8-9, PARAGRAPH 8.

  " So let us " not suffer shock or be terrified " regardless of our trials. Especially noteworthy is the statement: " Be courageous and strong...Jehovah your God is with you." Those words of Joshua 1:9 have been chosen as the year-text for 2013. They will surely strengthen us in the months ahead.."

  So do they know something we don't, or is this just a generic statement? Anyway, the whole magazine is about courage, not giving up, not having regrets if you are old and think you made needless sacrifices, oh yeah, and how Awesome the Elders are. So get ready for shepherding calls. This will be a great on for Blondi to review in the coming weeks.

  Totally generic rhetoric. The regular, Bible characters did this and that, why can't you be just like them.

  I don't want to be just like them. I want a new Bible with updated characters.

  We always used to speculate about the year text, thinking that the WTS knew something that we didn't. One year it was "Stand still and see the salvation of Jehovah." That one got everyone all stirred up.

  Could it be that in choosing this year's text they took into account the real bad things that were/are happening to them--lack of money, Candace Conti, the Australia court case, etc. and so braced themselves in for a difficult year?

  And since non-sensical new light always causes them to lose followers, and they have one of the worst if not the worst retention rate, that must also \have weighed in their minds when choosing the year text. I wonder how many left the borg last year or how many became inactive and what bearing that also may have had.

  I thought the same thing. I literally laughed out loud while reading some sentences. They could be hedging their bets. What if child molestation cover-ups were to really be exposed? The could always play the persecution card. One of the following articles stresses the need to be ready to die for you brothers ans sisters. So get ready for field service in the face of persecution to place tractazines! They mentioned Rwanda in one example, but strangely there was no mention of Malawi? They have a great picture of early Jehovah's Witnesses ( LOL! ) dying in the arena. One is getting ready to die ( Elder or CO/DO ) with an old couple ( faithful oldsters who have not given in to disappointments), and a younger couple ( regular pioneers no doubt ) watching and waiting for their turn...

  You made me think this morning with this post.

  When you go to the meetings and hear the propaganda and rhetoric, and you believe it, it gives you the placebo effect. You believe Jehovah will bless you and save you and that the organization will tell you the truth, so it becomes your truth.

  Sounds like the GB 2.0 had a meeting recently to discuss the recent decline in productivity and decided to create an ambiguous motivational slogan to keep the dubs awake... notice how they didn't say "years ahead"...

  I thought the statement in par 6 that we need courage because MERE MEN may demand that we act contrary to God's will was strange...... Are they speaking of the Austrailian court issues? or the courts may be after them to change the 2 witness rule about pedophelia since they are calling elders meetings this week on this issue?? and I also did mark par 8 as well, that is mentioned above that we need to be strengthened in the coming months.... great minds think alike, I take it The society always mentions changes within thee DC, CA, mags it intentions months ahead and slowly, repeats it in different articles, and then gets it placed in context so it will be accepted when it hits...psychological warfare at its best..

  All of this "apostate" paranoia did not exist when I was on the inside, in pre-internet days. I just remember a passing comment once in a while about "the man of lawlessness." I do remember people at an assembly or two pasing out anti-WT tracts. I just took one and promptly threw it in the trash. Now, apparently, every meeting and assembly has some kind of "apostate" component. They are scared of losing their empire.
