I was in 42 years and thought that was a long time. Do you know anyone else who woke up after being in 60 or 70 years? It gives me hope that maybe my mum will wake up.................................

i was born-in...baptized at 17....active until about 2000 when i was 50.....then the next few years inactive/slow fade.....in retrospect i always had a sense a lot of it was irrelevant, and i just had too high ethics to be "in" with the tax evaders, gossip-mongers, back-stabbers....but totally out sometime in early 2000's. i really cannot pinpoint a date................but i wish i'd had the guts to depart a lot earlier.

Mouthy was in for a very long time and so was Wobble. Only about 3 decades for me.
Anyone who was in it for more than a few years I'm sure it all felt like a lifetime - endless reminders to heed the reminders of the reminders...

I was 3 when my parents were baptized, always regular in service from age 6, enrolled in the ministry school at 8, baptized at 14, was a MS on and off from age 20, then as I was reaching out to be an elder I found the truth about the truth while doing research for a public talk...at age 54. I continued for a year then I stopped going to the meetings after the DC in 2010. What I heard and saw made me realize that I was in a cult...

My mom will turn 80 this year and she is still pioneering...Since my dad died almost 10 years ago she has become obsessed with service and meetings. She has no other hobbies or passtimes than cult-related activities and she has no time for a normal live. My younger brother who has never been in the truth recently became a grand father and he wanted to come and visit mom with his grand son...well although she always complains that he never visits her, she gave him a specific time to come since all other days she is out in service or at the meetings...so my brother said that he wasn't going to go out in service just to be with her.
So trying to help mom to free herself from the cult would be taking away her sole reason to live. I live 600 km from mom and I haven't told her how I feel about the JWs...I think she knows I am inactive...and if I was to DA or be DF she would be very hurt...

Hi and Hey you guys...I feel like an El Jerko (La Jerka? lol) I was devoted. I listened and believed. I wore the tin hat and drank the Kool-aid, up until almost a year ago.
If someone had come to me years, decades, earlier and kindly, sensibly, even a stranger, and said, I would like to show you something important I think you should see...I would have taken the bait. And like with anything new, just a bit at the beginning, calmly, with time to digest it and let the gray matter roll around some.
This site has been a haven for me. I don't like the fights, or arguments or attacks. I don't like the cussing, it upsets me, so I screen the cussing out.
But the other 95% of this site, is fantastic.
I feel for all of you, who have Family still in it.
In a way, I am amazed, that I am out. I would like to give you gentle, cautious hope, that it can be done.
